Just received a thrilled and thrilling message from @realbengilbert.bsky.social to inform me there are still discount Easter eggs at Sainsbury's. Hope everyone's day has a similar little piece of all-caps delight in it.
I like the web and I like people learning new things.
So we're running a free 10 week web development bootcamp online, starting April 24th.
📍Free and not selling/pushing anything
📍Livestreamed lessons with Q&A
📍Expert guest speakers
📍Chill vibes
📍Kind learner community
(also someone needs to take another look at the alignment of that VH)
Cropped in screenshot of a weather app showing only the Pollen count as VH in an angry orange-red diamond
Like I KNOW I live in the city furthest from the sea but I FEEL it on days like this.
Has a surprisingly fun time learning the OpenAPI Specification today - YMMV but for me, getting out of bad brain mode usually requires learning something new.
hahaha literally how is anyone supposed to function normally hahaha
and now we can spend our evenings watching something that doesn't have regular scenes of people coughing up blood
Finally finished watching House with @realbengilbert.bsky.social (his first time all the way through) and OH BOY that ending is one of the best in television, up there with Angel and Ashes to Ashes for having an extremely wobbly run up but managing to stick the landing
I've been feeling very 'not a real person' this year, and truly what is more real than wool crafts.
A ball of oatmeal coloured wool attached to a small strip of knitting on a needle, on a warm yellow/orange patterned rug
I will finish this jumper this year if it kills me.
(Started circa 2024, first sleeve now in progress.)

whenever folks talk about harry potter and separating artist from art they always have this indignant 'OH SO IM A BAD FOR BUYING THESE BOOKS?' but thats not the real issue. the reality is that many will BELIEVE you are bad, and that is VALID. its not your choice what others think of you
Oh hey, I am once again going to talk about lack of distress tolerance, specifically for shame, and how it ties together AI, the “male loneliness epidemic,” Trumpism, and yes, people’s indignation that anyone might think they’re a bad person for continuing to buy Harry Potter merch.
A long shot - are there any former #PAFEC employees here? If so, and you haven't had the email, I have details about the 50th anniversary reunion.
I get yelled at for saying this but for many hundreds of years people went to university not to get diplomas or be employable but because immersion in the humanities was considered foundational to a good life, and school must return to its original purpose: the joy of learning.
I wrote about some things I'm struggling with in the technology industry, preceded by an appreciation for folk music.
Sorry I'm not more open-minded about LLMs, it's just some fucking maniacs shoveled out a bunch of useless bloatware featuring that technology, did not give me any chance to opt out, reorganized the entire economy around it, zeroed out gains made by green energy, and made it impossible to buy RAM
I think about this Tony Benn speech much more than I used to
First time in days I've slept past 3am (wow 5am what a lie-in)
If you don’t know how to code, you won’t know of your vibe code is correct. This seems to be an unpopular opinion.
(do things your teen self would think was cool, always)
There are so few things I've seriously considered getting as tattoos, and most of them are Maxïmo Park lyrics, and I get to see them live for the first time tomorrow nightttttt
The rain it raineth EVERY DAY.
what if an environment where its possible to be functional

I've seen some similar projects, but IMO this seems to better capture some of the fine-grained detail
I have yet to see any evidence that there is a market for AI-generated books outside of people being tricked into thinking they are not AI-generated books. AKA, it is a project of scamming and deceiving people, and really should be treated as fraud
Our next ‘Beyond Borders Book Club’ pick is the marvellous ’Monstrilio’ by Gerardo Sámano Córdova, published by one of my faves @deadinkbooks.bsky.social - can’t wait to see what the group think of this one!! 🔥
morpheus, holding out a red and blue pill: I got us some drugs. Neo: that's interesting because I take drugs. morpheus: and me. that's why I got two.
