“Since 1998, independent researchers have conducted more than 40 high-quality studies involving over 5.6 million people. The conclusion is clear and unambiguous: There’s no link between vaccines and autism." -Dr. Susan Kressly, AAP President on recent changes to the CDC's website
For decades, scientists have studied the potential causes of autism, and have repeatedly found no credible link between childhood vaccines and autism. Read our full fact-check: www.aap.org/en/news-room...
Very excited about this.
Ugh.
Preventable.
I was vaccinated as a child and again as an adult because my titers were low -- tested as part of requirements for being on staff at a hospital. I didn't question the extra vaccine for myself.
My kids were vaccinated per the recommended schedule.
Measles is a risk we can minimize.

The thing about destroying NIH is NIH’s scale in medical research just dwarfs everyone else.
For ex, in 2023 the American Cancer Society gave out $64.5 million worth of grants. Sounds big, right?
But NIH’s budget was $49 billion. With a B.
Kill NIH and the floor drops out of US science.
This training complements the Pediatric Education for Prehospital Professionals (#PEPP) program, providing tools to assess & respond to critical neonatal situations wherever they happen!

Feels like a good time for a little reminder: Countries aren't supposed to be run like businesses. Countries are supposed to spend money to support and serve their people. This means spending to support those living below the poverty line, the disabled and historically 1/

An advertisement for the polio vaccine which reads: "they all got vaccine except dad...don't take a chance...take your polio shots!" It depicts a photo of a family gathered around a father who is in an iron lung.
With science falling under increasing attack, this medical historian is here to remind people of the power of #vaccines. THREAD🧵
Hard-hitting polio advert from 1958. In the first half of the 20th century, polio was the leading cause of death in children and young adults. 1/7
Exciting updates from the American Academy of Pediatrics Neonatal Resuscitation Program
Devastating for scientists and their research, and everyone who benefits from that research.
I’m not sure if everyone outside academia is aware that a delay or “pause” in grant funding often means the researchers themselves are lost from the field, along with their expertise.
Well, I did it.
I turned the big 5-0. #Vintage1975

I finished a week on service with them. It is always great to be in the trenches and reminded of how much I love taking care of babies, as well as how the work of the AAP impacts how we care for those babies.

How did I ring in the New Year?
I brought in 2025 on call on behalf of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, rounding with this stellar team. (Posted with their permission). (2/n)
Happy New Year.
2025 is a big year because I am turning the Big 5-0. And I am doing a big birthday fundraiser.
In honor of this milestone birthday, I am fundraising on behalf of the American Academy of Pediatrics (#AAP), an organization whose mission is to improve outcomes for children. (1/n)
