Don't forget the Imperial Irrigation District, the people with the oldest water rights on the Colorado and the people who grow squash in the middle of a desert.

Annadel is a state park that, nonetheless, lets you ride a bike on the trails, all are multi-use. It has a long history of mtb's and a number of totally legit steep descents. Also, there is a large network of unsanctioned trails (which has led to arrests!)
It's just ADS with a different skin, you can even import your libraries. I mean, now you can search agronomy and soil physics as well as astro, but ADS was heading that way anyway.
Meh ... it's fine.
I am gonna go with the total price more than the rate. The vibes were bad before rates when up because housing prices are incredibly high compared to salaries. When my parents bought, they were paying 8.5% but a house cost ~2.5 years salary for them. My first car was at 6.5% but was 2 months salary.
If you think a F-150 is gonna do fuck all against a garbage truck, you should probably not be driving. Locally a truck lost its brakes and crashed through a concrete barrier on the side of the highway before obliterating a SUV, killing the driver from the passenger side.
My niece is back at her parents house in Alexandria to pay off her loans.
I wish my 70 year old house was cheap to maintain by virtue of being paid off.
They do not turn a profit by design. The costs are to build are no doubt eye watering and all imposed, in the end, by the state legislature. I am extrapolating from my state, but I do know why my niece skipped UVa (where she would be in state) and went to Alabama..... I doubt she actually save any $
Sounds like it worked, then?
UCs have to charge for the housing at cost, and have to use union labor. This makes on campus housing really expensive compared to off campus housing. If rents are nonetheless going down? I mean its not like there are lot of undergrads commuting from Temecula....
Where does the money come from to make this university owned housing below market rate? Tuition? the endowment? If a public, I want to see how long a law that says "we are subsidizing student housing" lasts, especially for places with out of state students.
what
Got an ORCID, must be legit.
Sigh, we already have mosquitos (at least up here in central CA) but we have a vector control board that job is to get rid of them, so we have very few. They put fish in ponds! They search puddles and clog ditches! And everyone wants to get rid of them because "MY TAXES ARE TOO HIGH."
And lead us not into Dennys
But deliver us to Waffle House
Thank you for writing this, because I feel like you are articulating something that I have been trying to mumble about.
This is giving off Real Genius but with the faculty member not being an asshole vibes. Filling up a lecture hall with popcorn to get a manuscript read is not something I have heard of anyone trying ... yet....
Come on now, getting the advisor to read it is the whole third act.
So they are making money hand over fist? Like my $100 a month subscription is basically costing them $10?
The question is what is the true cost of the technology. Given what training and inference seem to actually cost (literal many billions) a break even subscription might be far more expensive than what we are paying now. That take this from "read the news on your phone" to "Bloomberg terminal."
Same
But I already know that the post will be about fireworks because 1) it is warm and 2) it is Nextdoor.
There is where I mention that in Santa Cruz county it was explicitly stated that county's policy was no new housing starting in the mid-70s.
Government by meme.
I think I just had a stroke
Just don’t give certain people the idea that the DoD should be a profit center instead of a cost….
I mean how much power is clmjj in no out in that order anyway?
TRVTH
A lot of these folks are, of course, ignoring use taxes. California is already super progressive, so the lower half of the income distribution pays very little in income taxes, where they pay is in car registration and sales tax. Good luck getting of that.
Cut the chatter red 2.
