Mad fact... 42% of Labour Prime Ministers have had to fire Peter Mandelson.

People tell me that Bulgaria isn't going to be as bad. I'm reserving judgement
Tweet by Martina Navratilova. "Predator. That is how he should register. A sexual predator…" quote-tweeting a tweet by "Biology Rules OK" about Dr. Beth Upton, a trans woman
This tweet is highly defamatory and Martina Navratilova should be fired from BBC Sport for it.
It demonstrates an horrendous level of hatred for a trans woman (who was cleared of all wrongdoing in a recent tribunal) because she is a trans woman.
🧵
So the relationship between No 10 and FCDO is clearly dysfunctional
T is OK for cis women but not trans men.
Puberty blockers are OK for cis kids but illegal for trans kids.
You see it, right? You see what this is?
What good would it have done if the civil servants hadn't "hidden" the vetting failure? Would the outcome differ?
Phillipson appointed Mary-Ann Stephenson as EHRC chair *despite* not one but two select committes warning her not to!
This government installs all the wrong people because it wants to.
Text reads: Scottish Labour manifesto We look at anti-trans pledges in the Scottish Labour party's manifesto, as well as a wider look at LGBTQIA+ pledges from parties in the Scottish, Welsh and local council elections in May. Scottish Labour's manifesto pledges to segregate Trans+ people in NHS wards, schools, sport, prisons and "everyday life", by “upholding the Equality Act” with a pledge to "remove all biologically male [sic] prisoners from women’s prisons within days of the election."
The party that once supported moves to de-medicalise legal gender recognition has now pivoted to pledging Trans+ exclusion
It's going to be even worse the next time they appoint Peter Mandelson
I always wonder what "meeting halfway" looks like with someone like this. Agreeing that i only go out of the house every second day? "Correcting" people when they call me Helen on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays?
There is no middle way with eliminationists.
It’s just frustrating to see the media refuse to acknowledge that views like this exist. This guy is pretty regularly quoted as a “concerned therapist“
Disgraceful that UK Government has chosen to block this compassionate legislation, blatantly undermining the clear democratic will of the Manx parliament. A devastating blow to terminally ill people on the Isle of Man. Seems like Westminster politicking harming the most vulnerable.
One Year On From Trans Exclusion... 100,000 Women Say 'Not In Our Name' Graphic of multicoloured women with rainbow.
One year on from trans exclusion: Over 100,000 Women Say ‘Not In Our Name’ 🎉
As NION Women’s letter in support of the trans community surpasses 100,000 signatures on this notable day, we look at how far we have come...

glorious intro from Marina Hyde:
"You hear such a lot from Maga Republicans about how liberals think Trump voters are stupid. But not nearly enough about the far more salient point: that Donald Trump thinks Trump voters are stupid."

The Minister must ensure that the new guidance is workable and inclusive. The Liberal Democrats will accept nothing less. It must lay out how it will protect the dignity, safety and rights of all, and ensure that trans people are not prevented from participating in public life because there are no facilities that they can safely use. It is also essential that the guidance is subject to full parliamentary scrutiny. It must have a full debate and free vote. Marie Goldman Women & Equalities Spokesperson
To deal with the unacceptable legal limbo that many trans people are in, I encourage the Minister to appoint a Joint Committee of MPs and peers, on a cross-party basis, to conduct post-legislative scrutiny of both the Gender Recognition Act 2004 and the Equality Act 2010. The Committee should take evidence from affected communities, including trans people, and propose any amendments or new legislation that it sees as necessary to ensure that existing rights are protected. Marie Goldman Women & Equalities Spokesperson
It is sadly an all-too-common theme throughout history that vulnerable minorities—in this case a minority that makes up less than 1% of the UK’s population—are scapegoated for society’s ills. Protecting the rights of women and ensuring dignity and inclusion for trans people are not competing objectives. Both are essential to a fair society. It is basic British decency to afford that. The Liberal Democrats believe as such and that is what we will continue to call for. Marie Goldman Women & Equalities Spokesperson
Thank you to @mariecgoldman.bsky.social for her speech yesterday in the Commons. The dignity and rights of trans people must be ensured in this guidance, and she is right when she says that trans rights and women's rights are not and will never be competing objectives.
Donald Trump is acting like a Mafia boss running a protection racket. "Nice trade deal you got there. Shame if something happened to it."
This must be the final straw. We can't reward Trump with a state visit from our King.
"'If, as Hungary's new prime minister is suggesting, this funding is criminal, the likes of Matt Goodwin are going to be combing through our proceeds of crime legislation,' said Jolyon Maugham, executive director of Good Law Project."
When a serious, premeditated crime is committed, somebody should pay. When hundreds of such crimes are committed, it's not good enough just to lock up one woman and slightly demote a prince. These women deserve real justice.
Disgusting reporting by BBC using a tiny number of cases to suggest widespread abuse of a system which routinely denies LGBTQIA+ individuals asylum and forces them back into environments of persecution. This article massively distorts the reality of the situation. 1/

I see that responses to today's Government's announcement on the EHRC guidance has, unsurprisingly, demonstrated the almost complete lack of trust trans people now have in this government. It's unsurprising because of the complete lack of (meaningful) consultation with trans people.
A graphic with a purple gradient background that says "Today's announcement that the EHRC has sent an updated Code of Practice to the UK Government" in white text. There is a white arrow pointing to the right. The Scottish Trans logo is at the bottom.
A graphic with a purple gradient that says in white text "We don’t yet know what the updated Code says. The version that the EHRC consulted on last summer would have made trans people’s lives across Britain very much worse. It focused only on how to exclude and segregate us from services. In our view, it would have led to frequent and widespread breaches of our human rights." The Scottish Trans logo is at the bottom.
A graphic with a purple gradient background with white text that says "Whatever the outcome, we will continue to make the case that trans people deserve the same access to safe, inclusive services as everyone else. We deserve to live free from discrimination, harassment and abuse, and to have our human rights protected." The Scottish Trans logo is at the bottom.
A graphic with a purple gradient background in white text that says "If exclusion really is what the law now requires, then the law should be fixed to work how it was always intended to." The Scottish Trans logo is at the bottom.
Today, the UK Minister for Equalities and the EHRC have both released updates on the EHRC’s Code of Practice for services. The EHRC was updating the Code following last year’s UK Supreme Court ruling on the meaning of “sex” in the Equality Act 2010.

Acyn « @Acyn X.com VANCE: What they have done is engage in this act of economic terrorism against the entire world. As the President showed, two can play at that game.

Meanwhile, in Scotland...
High praise indeed
Obviously a blockade is unacceptable so the solution is, er, a blockade. 🤷♂️
I pity future historians trying to make sense of this, the dumbest empire in world history.

So the Trump administration’s two goals in peace talks with Iran are:
1. A commitment by Iran not to develop a nuke (This was part of the Obama deal that Trump canceled)
2. Opening the Strait of Hormuz. (Was open before war.)
Still heartbreaking

And the bit which got to me, where Robin said no one really understood what the impact on trans people actually was.
Heartbreaking
