I struggle with Asics because I like the shoes and like what they're doing but I remember metaphorically trading in my Asics wrestling shoes for Emerica skate shoes and the whole thing feels like a fever dream born of my fear of disappointing my coach for quitting the team for skateboarding.

What we used to call a half flip kids now refer to as a cancel, which is a term borrowed from the fighting game community. Its like chocolate and cheese for me. Love them both, don't want them in combination lol.

As a lifelong fan of fighting games, I should be excited that "cancel" has entered the skate lexicon, but I'm not.

It's been a long time since they put somebody established with relevant skill on Girl, but you know Lil Dre should be on Chocolate

The way you can't see Zion or Ishod's faces honestly felt disrespectful. You get 1 or 2 clips like that, somebody should be having a hard convo with the filmer. Hopefully they learn from it, because this is some of the worst work I've seen in a modern full length video.

Everything the new Huf video did right, the Real video did wrong. Lots of under exposed, jittery 120p footage thrown onto a 30p in a video so trapped in the early 2000s that its musical choices are matched only be the number of clips left in mono with fucked up white balance. A Real slog.

The new Huf video is the best piece of filmmaking I've seen in a skate video in some time.

Really happy with my progress as a filmmaker over the past year. Still plenty of room to improve, but I'm getting there.

Being self aware has helped with self esteem in the sense that I understand the things I didn't like about myself weren't as naturally under my control as they are for neurotypical people. It still feels incremental because the line between "I hate myself" and "I hate this burden" is very fine. 3/3
