Nadim Zahawi arrived in the UK from Iraq as a child refugee. His family claimed asylum once they were here. Today he has joined Reform who will stop all in country asylum applications. Under his new party, his own family fleeing persecution would be immediately deported.

❤️‍🔥Tory sources confirm that Nadhim Zahawi made approaches to senior members of Kemi Badenoch's team about getting a peerage just weeks before defecting to Reform UK - but was turned down.

The serious danger is giving credence to the lies of very wealthy men who may, or may not, pay taxes in the UK - but create & perpetuate falsehoods- straight from the Trump playbook

Farage? Tice & now Zahawi. A representative democracy? Really. Never

The challenge ? How to counter their lies

It's brilliant and exciting to see Zohran Mamdani elected.
More leaders like him please, and fewer like Cuomo, Schumer and the rest of the oligarch-pleasing, hope-destroying, election-losing, right-centrist political class.

It's a remarkable coincidence how many people on the same road seem to have had overnight access to box fresh flags, 10 foot ladders and the necessary equipment to attach them to lamp posts all at the same time, isn't it?

Young Disabled people on Disability Living Allowance (DLA) move over to PIP once they are 16.
A Disabled person who turns 16 in October 2026 will apply for PIP under the current rules.
Another Disabled person, who turns 16 just one month later in November 2026, will be assessed under the new 4-point rule.

The Government's welfare bill concessions will create a two-tiered system.

In real terms:
Two Disabled young people could be born just one month apart - and one would be assessed under the new 4-point rule, which makes it much harder to qualify for PIP daily living component.

Greyscale painting of a starched napkin that looks like it has been dropped onto a table and was frozen there before it settled down, so it has quite a high peak in the middle with various creases and folds falling away from that point. The folds are painted hyper-realistically with subtle gradations of light and dark.

Painting of a still life with an ugly green martini glass, apparently plastic in front and offset from a large ,highly-polished silver teacup which just contains a red apple. The apple, the stem and bottom of the martini glass, and the teacup's own handle are all reflected on its curved surfaces.

#ArtAdventCalendar Day— I started art lessons to improve my digital art, never expecting to fall in love with the brush. My first #oilpainting, March 2017, when I was almost 50. By Nov I was up to the "napkin drill." Then a year of still lifes, learning different materials/tools like palette knife.

Please, if you are able, support Independent bookshops.

They are the literary & social hubs of our high streets and communities.

Without their continued support, we simply wouldn't be around to publish .

Thank you.
