Got a replacement which unfortunately has a (different) fault of its own so Dell have agreed to send another replacement 😁

Luckily it's still in warranty, but I'll have to wait on a response from Dell, hopefully tomorrow.

Why is it that you take vacation and right before you're due back to work some hardware gremlin decides it wants to rear it's ugly head.

I hope Dell don't let me down in replacing this under warranty as half a monitor working is a problem :D

I never understand the mindset of some folks.
I slapped 32 solar panels on my roof, added a battery and I’d have a wind turbine in my garden if it could generate renewable energy for our house.
Our reliance on fossil fuels is nuts - time to move on people. Modern times mean modern thinking.

Closed up the case again - pc workie!

Rebooted several times, updated and installed apps again and (fingers crossed/touch wood) still working and powers on/off/reboots without issue.

Hate laptops. Glad I have a desktop that I mostly use.

THE END - for now.

Swapped ram around again - pc workie.
Rebooted - pc (still) workie.
Added 2nd stick of ram back in - pc workie.
Closed back up the laptop - pc stop workie & wouldn’t even power on.

Took apart again, repeated steps above and got back to two sticks of ram in and working.

Rebooted….

Ram error beeps, not turn off or back on meant stripping down to get at the internals.

Shout out to Hewlett Packard, only 5 screws needed to be undone to get inside

Reseated ram, still no workie.
Swapped ram sticks, still no workie.
Took out one ram stick - workie!

Rebooted - pc stop workie again

I dislike laptops - practical and portable but a pain in the ass to fix.

Mine crapped itself earlier today mid-update and then failed to boot to Windows. Several OS repair attempts later still no dice and then it failed to turn on whilst doing a fresh Windows install.

Then came the hardware errors
