"Baucham’s premise is that daughters are property & tools to use to further the glory of God & demonstrate the headship of the father. He claimed that DV, sex harassment, abuse, rape...wdn’t be an issue if young womn remained under the direction of & obedient to fathers & husbands selected for them"
"I have been out for almost a decade, and I am still dealing with PTSD from the abuse I experienced—abuse that was fueled by the teaching of Christian Patriarchy."
I cannot think of more indispensable tools for advocates, researchers, journalists, and other truth-tellers than the Internet Archive and the Wayback Machine. I used these tools constantly with Homeschoolers Anonymous and continue to use them today in my advocacy and writing. ✊
"The case is one of many in recent years in which young people have sued officials and government agencies over climate change."
It's also bad news for researchers.
this poem echoes my growing up too. we were taught we were broken, sinners, not our own. i am so glad i'm reclaiming myself & my soul now.

there's a reason i wrote a book abt how i grew up. it's all there - umbrellas, abuse, exfather, exfam, fundamentalism.
i'm so glad i'm free and broke the cycles.

omg the exfam LOVED the frank peretti books so much & loved to point at them as books of truth. survivors are telling the truth.
they like to say i'm the crazy one. i published a book telling my story tho, so joke's on them.

Evangelical Christianity’s distrust of abuse survivors and those who help them was a very popular sentiment among evangelical Christians during the 1980s and 90s and still continuing today.
the world i grew up in loved to change the truth. it was the way they controlled us. i'm so glad i left the exfam and the church.
this is bad.

This is terrible news… @polcomm.bsky.social
All have sinned
And fallen short
But I’m a special case.
I know I am
Destined for wrath—
I saw it on her face...
Read the rest of my new poem here:
So, child abuse, like charity, begins at home.
[take that for what you will]
This is bad.
It is foolish to argue or act like fathers, parents, or the nuclear family are silver bullets we can use against child abuse, domestic violence, and other familial threats. Rather than silver bullets against abuse, they are most often the perpetrators.
"51% of those surveyed who used restricted platforms prior to the ban say the law has made no difference to their online safety, while 14% say it actually makes them feel less safe."
The left loses because we have no billionaires on the left ready step up and keep the Wayback Machine going. If the right wanted them to keep going instead of dying the money would be there.
American journalists need to politically lobby if they don’t want their industry to turn to ash
We can't let this happen
"A kneecapped Wayback Machine isn’t just bad news for accountability journalism—it will also be a blow to the legal system, as pages archived by the tool are frequently cited as evidence in litigation across the United States."
i grew up w the narnia books, bc those were the only allowed fantasy in our biblical fundamentalist world. pullman's books were evil bc they killed god.
i love them now bc i found out the truth abt god and left the church.

The sequel is great!
