Heh, er, thanks, I think? :-)

Ugh, forgot about that part. Lovely family, eh?
Yeah, you both genuinely raise good points, but in this case, my point was akin to saying "It's a shame there are so many people have so many damn guns, plus the loose regs concerning them in the U.S."; victims are downstream and (hopefully) implied as part of that, specifically the end result.
Yes, Tate is an incredibly despicable person. But -- like Trump -- the biggest tragedy is what's transpired in our society to make those two cretins so popular.
The whole no-tax-on-tips thing is absolute ultra-crappy next-level stupidity championed by both the right AND the left. Ugh.
It's fascinating just how different AI attitudes are in the U.S. vs. many other countries. Given this, my gut is that this is more about America's crappy safety net, dystopian jobs environment, health insurance tied to those jobs, etc... more than actually AI itself.
"Making money isn’t proof to me that I know something any better than someone else. Wealthy people who believe that they do aren’t as smart as they think."

Note that you can get a 30 day trial of Sheet Music Direct's "PASS" program and access all the MHE songs for free, and/or also buy them (for good) for half price
Frye from Futurama says "SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!"
HEY "MAYBE HAPPY ENDING" FIREFLIES...
The sheet music just dropped! :o

The data center placement is what I was talking about. I feel communities should have more control of placement and companies should be responsible to avoid/mitigate issues for existing locations.
Re your other statement, I think we'll largely have to agree to disagree re net downsides vs. upsides
From what I understand, for instance, Anthropic was (and seemingly remains) the most concerned about AI alignment, but they also feel compelled to move (more) quickly than they otherwise might want to because the world isn't sitting still.
Yeah, it's a tough balance!
I used to work in health-tech, so I saw a fascinating hybrid of this... a huge, frustrating tension between medicine & science moving too fast, risking lives vs. too cautiously / not fast enough, also risking lives :(.
Ah! Maybe there's some confusion here. I'm not remotely bsky staff, I'm just some rando who wants to enjoy engaging with thoughtful and respectful people in my free time!
I do agree that people who *manage* products often need to read even the rude comments (which gets really stressful!).
Ha, yeah, I got added to one or more "clankers" lists and I honestly think that's made the bluesky experience more peaceful for me. And probably for them as well! Win-win!
How does this tool "remove product feedback"?
One example I recall was when I worked on Google Flights back in the day. We got TONS of loud requests for an app. When we asked these people why, they said "I need to be able to get to Flights with one click on my phone!"
These folks didn't about browser shortcuts 🤦🏻.
It was an education problem.
- Crunching data, convening balanced focus groups, and conducting well-constructed surveys and microsurveys often provides some of the most useful, actionable data re feature prioritization.

I've been in engineering program management for many, many years of my life. Some key things I've learned:
- People don't always know what they want ("A faster horse!")
- Loudest voices are often very very much not representative of userbase actual needs & wants

Mimi, I'm a sci-fi enthusiast and so of course I've seen that film (multiple times) as well as a ton of other films where AI goes horribly wrong (and sometimes delightfully right).
We definitely need to be responsible creation & stewarding of AI and I'm not against informed regulation in this space
Rosalind, I think you and I are in agreement re some of the unethical practices around the location-choices and operational-choices re data centers, which often seem to disproportionately harm vulnerable populations. There should be (enforced!) laws against those practices!
YouTube used to be the place where it was unwise to read the comments.
Now, sadly, that's Bluesky. Wow.
I trust this Attie tools will help fine-tune my feed, but I'd also love a Reasonable Replies filter to hide the reflexively angry, confrontational, and often downright disrespectful replies.
This seems like a genuinely useful and thoughtful application of AI; thanks for making this!
Sanders: [authors yet another shortsighted bill]
Me: Sanders' retirement is long overdue; we need younger, more tech-savvy politicians to write thoughtful tech policy
AOC: [signs on to misguided bill]
Me: 🤦🏼♂️
Either someone's doing a good job or they aren't. Who the fork cares what (legal) tool they're using, not to mention how, when, and how much they're using it?!!
Mandating AI use at work has to be one of the most gobsmackingly stupid biz practices I've ever heard of 🙄
Either AI is useful for a particular role or it's not (and don't get me wrong, I think for most desk jobs, it absolutely is!).
WHY NOT JUST MEASURE WORKER OUTPUT QUALITY AND TIMELINESS?!?
Eh, it was one (not very popular) app out of literally thousands on the Quest. Not all of those apps are winners, either, but there are at least dozens of truly awesome fun & useful ones!
And I say this while both acknowledging that there are some horrifically awful people who are billionaires, and also some really super-awesome folks who have that kind of money.
(Also for the record, I'd be totally cool with societies mega-taxing income -- but not wealth -- of billionaires)
You can both believe that having billionaires in society is a serious bug while also finding so many of the virulent "let's guillotine all the billionaires!!" crowd to be so very, very insufferable.
Why should the Dem leadership immediately cry foul every time a MAGA pol says something heinous?
- There aren't enough hours in the day.
- These assholes CRAVE attention; "triggering the libs" is their goal!
- It wouldn't accomplish squat.
