Why I'm Leaving Big Tech A tech worker's reflections

“This will result in the largest ever accumulation of power and wealth in the hands of a diminishing few, while the legitimate needs of the people…are met with ‘let them eat chatbots’. That *is* the intent and why AI is a project of class domination.” — disjunctionsmag.com/articles/why...

It’s been a very hard year - Andy Bell Unlike a lot of places in tech, my company, Set Studio/Piccalilli has no outside funding. Bootstrapped is what the LinkedIn people say, I think. It’s been a hard year this year. A very hard year...

A bit of a vulnerable post by me but we need your help to get us through what has been a more difficult period than 2020.

It would be really appreciated if you could read and share in your networks too 💛

Got some snow up here on Monday, and it felt like a flashback to the 80's or 90's. Winters here are so mild now.

Environmentalists urge Shapiro, lawmakers not to compromise on climate to end budget impasse • Pennsylvania Capital-Star RGGI aims to reduce climate-warming carbon dioxide emissions from power plants by requiring the companies that own them to invest in clean energy projects.

As Governor Shapiro says, it's a false choice between a healthy environment and our economy. #RGGI delivers both—and sacrificing climate action to end the budget impasse would be shortsighted. More here: penncapital-star.com/energy-envir...

World ‘very likely’ to exceed 1.5C climate goal in next decade: UN Despite Paris Agreement pledges, countries 'have landed off target' on climate goals multiple times, the UN warns.

Okay, yes, humanity did not enact the single best possible outcome in response to the single worst problem we have ever faced as a species

In no way was it wrong to try, and in no way is it wrong to continue trying to jam a wrench in the greedy fossil fuel economy. Everything is still on the table

@justinjackson.ca listening to your Oct 6th episode’s discussion about good social networks being made of nerds. If that was the case, mastodon would be scratching that itch. I think influencer culture has ruined it. People weren’t trying to make a career of their food pictures on early twitter
