Prop 13 has absolutely crushed California's schools and local infrastructure and has forced younger and poorer home owners to subsidize the same people who bought in cheap and then enriched themselves by creating a housing shortage

I think 99.99% of these incidents would be solved with 1) supportive services for mental health / homelessness and 2) more access to public restrooms. I don't think the threat of arrest changes behavior at all, and I've never seen a non-homeless person pee on the subway.

Part of the problem is the lack of a viable solution. You need a lot of funding support a counter to this, and you need the messaging to be emotionally engaging. The winning / emotionally engaging narrative on the left is against those with the consolidated wealth to fund it.

Original argument was nobody did anything racist, but he's missing that they didn't do what was expected to prevent being racist. That's omission vs commission. Still a problem, still has the same impact.

Do you see how he's arguing a different point? He's assuming it must be an error of commission to be racist, which is not how structural racism works.

I think you need to take a step back and say "is it a good thing that there's no human oversight for a newspaper's postst? would it prevent accidentally appearing racist if someone checked these things before it went out on the internet?" The blame is on lack of staffing, not a racist person.
