Ink drawing of a mermaid sitting atop a perpendicular, tree trunk-like rock in the water. Her long hair trails right down to her seat and obscures her face entirely. Her head is bowed, and there is a strong suggestion that she may be weeping.

An older piece but a perennial favourite.

Elon Musk says there is an on-going “massive cyberattack” against Twitter/X.

He then theorises that a large group or even an entire Country is at fault.

There Is No Safe Word How the best-selling fantasy author Neil Gaiman hid the darkest parts of himself for decades.

I wrote about Neil Gaiman, and the women accusing him of sexual coercion, assault and abuse. www.vulture.com/article/neil...

Very thankful for the hard work of the firefighters under terrible conditions, and for the firefighters coming in now from out of state.

Finally in a safe enough environment to process some emotions that I haven't worked through and it's clear that one cannot fully process emotions:

- without a feeling of safety
- when you're using being busy to avoid processing feelings
- when you're too close to the situation

One of the chief areas I see folks fumble is the idea that Whiteness operates only as an external hegemony when you're "not racist."

No, Whiteness operates as an internalized framework for people brought up under that hegemony and you'll spend the rest of your life finding places it is guiding you.

And then people swear that you're crazy if you tell them that religion was designed to oppress and control society.

The messaging is; life's turmoil is over once you're gone.

They're literally getting you to look forward to your own death.

How is that not for the purpose of oppression & control?
