Not even mentioning the authors whose work I adore but dang, they're too prolific I just can't keep up (👀 Cherie Priest and Jenn Lyons and and)
Anything/everything by Melissa Caruso, Emily Tesh, Mike Chen, Devin Madson, Jessie Sima...
I need more CM Waggoner and Tyler Hayes 😭
And I'd read Lara Donnelly's shopping list
Same 9yo: Mama Kai, is it possible to read too much?
Me, w/o hesitation: No.
In UF, I have not read the Dresden Files
In fantasy, I have not read the Farseer Trilogy
In scifi, I have not read Neuromancer (even tho it's inexplicably marked off in my Goodreads??)
CYOA = Choose Your Own Adventure
not to be confused with CYA
Picked up a CYOA book for 9yo at the library this weekend. Told her to give it a try. She gave me her trademarked skeptical look, made a comment on how it looked 'boring,' and then spent the entire afternoon reading it.
Girl 😂

First Mage On The Moon by Cameron Johnston. Against a twilight blue background, a rusty magical rocketship readies for launch, with engineering diagrams off to the side.
Happy Launch Day to me!
First Mage On The Moon is out today.
Honestly really surprised to be a Locus award finalist in two different categories?! Best First Novel (for Song of Spores - initially they put it in Science Fiction, but then I think they realized it was my first) AND Best Editor?!
Congrats to the finalists!!
Hell yeah!
Exclusive Cover Reveal: The Forest Bleeds by Rachel Kitch
Today on the site I'm delighted to reveal the cover of The Forest Bleeds by Rachel Kitch, a Sapphic Horror debut releasing October 13th from Union Square Books! Here's the story: Inspired by Appalachian and Southeast Asian folklore, a witch…
Oh that's really good to know. I switched last year but haven't had to use it for typical publishing things (...yet 🤞)
Cover of Wolfpack by Rem Wigmore, featuring a brown-skinned woman holding a coppery fox mask. She is mostly obscured by red smoke and a little below the title is a domed white building on a green mountain
Wolfpack is OUT!
The sequel to Foxhunt, this queer solarpunk adventure features our favourite disaster bard Orfeus climbing to new heights to forge her own way ... but can you really escape the bloodstained past you inherit?
The Vengeful Wild duology is now complete!

I swear I mess up the Easy ones more often 😅

I mean, I know some books with asexual assassins 😆
But probably not what was meant.
Did friend specify anything about what they *do* want? Or books they've recently enjoyed?
✅️ Writing books
✅️ 2-3 cats
I figured my dayjob would be something creative/teaching-adjacent: another ✅️
I vehemently disagreed with the adults in my life that I'd ever have/want kids, so that one is the biggest surprise 😂
In some countries, you also get a grace period of 3-6 months where you can change your kids' name if you decide it doesn't work. I've never heard of a book title changing post pub.

Ahhh! That's amazing! Congrats!
*nods sagely* Scifi is a sub-genre of fantasy
Threads is incredibly performative and this particular one was apparently about the London Book Fair (I've realized that context was lost when I QT'ed)

Oh geez. I'm sorry :(
This is giving "we need a straight pride month" vibes 🙃🙃🙃
THE PHOTONIC EFFECT by Mike Chen is out in just under two weeks and I am here to tell you that if you like:

- alt-universe popstars who are surprisingly good at therapy
- cool space shit
- Captain Janeway, but give her a dog
you will probably like this??
