Just to be clear: we do not have money for textbooks in public elementary schools.
We make or buy our own books and resources, go to the library, and find videos and websites to use.
Some boards used to have consultants or resource teachers who made resources.
But they’ve been fired. #OntEd

This needs to be taken seriously. Along with underfunding, Doug Ford is destroying the university system. And yes, this latest move is 100% in line with what we've seen happening by state-level MAGA-hats in the US.
2/ I raised the urgent need to stop the privatization of health care by dusting off and actually enforcing the Canada Health Act. And I reiterated our position that Canada must take a clear moral stand against illegal wars (and the countries that start them) in this age of impunity.
And that is only a pilot for city-run grocery stores - a test to see how it works. It's not a socialist revolution, it's just seeing how it works. He doesn't like to collect evidence or consider information that doesn't come from his one-track mind. If the money doesn't go to him, it's socialism.

He'll privatize them next. There's nothing that can't be made worse by incentivizing profit over care, and that's right up his alley.
"Common sense" means "we have absolutely no evidence but we're going to do it anyway because it helps one of our buddies, and also we don't care if it harms people as long as it doesn't harm us"
We need to phone our MPPs every time we see someone speeding wherever the cameras used to be. Annoy the hell out of them. I'm making a list of issues & working up the nerve to call Mike Harris every day. I've called twice about other issues but of course get no response via phone, email, or social.
But that would make sense. If they cut gas tax then the oil companies get to keep that money. There's no way they will keep prices lower, they will just raise them again and keep the extra. He's giving a lovely present to oil execs.
We should all call Ford when we have a complaint about something caused by one of his decisions. Drunk people on the beach & no wardens? Call Ford & he can take care of it.
I'll keep mine out until June 1, so we're covered. And snow brush stays in the car until then, too.
I feel like I'm convincing one person at a time that I have as much a right to use public roadways as they do. But it does seem to be working. Even on FB as soon as a rabid car-brained poster goes off, I ask them why they want me to die when I just want groceries. They stop yelling at me then.
I've heard similar things at some of my social events at the community centre. But they don't say it as much any more because they know I bike and I tell them horror stories and gently explain that gas taxes do not pay for local roads. General taxation does.
They also decline surveys and debates at election time. Can't have people making decisions based on facts now, can we?
I set up my business banking with a credit union several years ago and am in the process of moving all my personal banking there, too.
Most people are not aggressive assholes. Most are just oblivious, going through life worrying about themselves and not giving another thought about how their actions affect other people. When I'm driving and people tailgate and speed, I choose to believe they are rushing organs for transplant :-)
For aggressive drivers (not just oblivious ones), the phone really does work, whether or not I'm recording. The fear that they could be caught doing something they know is wrong is enough to stop them from being assholes that particular time. They'll probably punish-pass a cyclist later to get even
Plus a lot of time I can't actually see anyone in the vehicle because the police refuse to enforce the laws against overly-tinted windows. So I also make a point of looking at their licence plate.
Text: Imagine if trains could come every few minutes at all hours of the day. Imagine if those trains were powered by electricity, instead of dirty diesel fuel, so they could accelerate quickly instead of crawling out of stations. Imagine single-level trains that looked more like subways, so passengers could board more quickly, decreasing the time the trains need to spend at stations. And imagine more stations on the current lines, to connect more people to more places.

I was walking with someone who usually drives, and that was the first time they experienced it and they finally understood. Like, the driver knows they're going to stop, but to me they look exactly like a person who is not going to stop, and I can't tell the difference.
I aim my phone at them and/or stare at them while I'm crossing. That usually makes them stop. On my bike I should "stop, stop, stop, stop, stop, stop, stop!!!!" and they usually stop. They do not understand that it feels like aggression to people not in the vehicle.
When we place the word public before joy, we are talking about our very democracy—how we gather, express, participate, and coexist in shared space. This is far more than a fleeting feeling or a municipal festival. Here are my 10 principles, clarifying what I am not talking about, and what I am.
Close to a majority of Ontarians do not want:
1) Health Care
2) Public Education
3) Working Public Transit
4) Competence
5) Public lands staying Public
6) A healthy environment/ecosystem
I thought it was because I put my patio furniture out, as soon as the backyard glacier melted.
He's the one waging war on drivers - he is bound and determined to increase traffic at all costs making things worse for everyone in vehicles
The main concern with this expenditure is that it's not necessary, it's a "nice to have" for the WRPS, a Cadillac of a building. So many social services and organizations are having their funding gutted so we can meet the financial demands of the WRPS, which then increases their services demands.
And they need a new specialized building for this? And their current one won't suffice? Their rationale for the new building was because other emergency services would use it, but those other emergency services don't want to use it, last I saw reported - the 911 services, yes, the building, no.
They don't want a "used" building, they want something built specifically for them! That, and apparently the taxpayers are a bottomless pile of money, but only for the police - not for food, housing, transit, the environment, water...
I just remember how bad they were last spring and how the year ended. I'd rather they have a slow start than a slow finish.
When they oppose streetcar priority lanes? Bike lanes? Pedestrianization? In TO multiple times it has been shown that these projects have negligible impacts to businesses
In Montreal they just do it, and then ask businesses a year after and often see more positive feedback than asking before. (2/4)
