It appears that this legend owns a little bookstore — and you can order books from him instead of Bezos. Link in next post.

Don't worry about these actual, real things we have to sacrifice right now, because the [undefined] future, whatever that is, will surely be better

Seniors evicted to make way for locked psychiatric beds The city plans to convert SF General’s Behavioral Health Center into a locked psychiatric facility, forcing out its 82 current residents.

The city has plenty of empty real estate that it could convert to locked treatment. Which doesn’t even work. They are closing two incredibly successful programs and replacing them with a proven failure. It’s fucking criminal.

I have no friends that I would give a hard time for not texting me back for a week, even if it was just “sorry, I forgot” let alone “I am going through trauma and this is part of my trauma response.” That is extremely shitty on their part and I’m very sorry.

Mayor Lurie's plan to add new treatment beds removes 97 current ones San Francisco health department says 82 residents living at the city’s Behavioral Health Center will be displaced and moved into new homes.

I am so opposed to the billionaire mayor kicking these indigent, vulnerable people out of their homes that I do not have adequate words.

This is so sad. My mom was the primary parent but I have such good memories of both my parents reading to me (it’s one of the ways I knew my dad loved me.) And I love reading to my toddler. My mom saved a bunch of books from when I was little so I’m reading her the same copies from 30+ years ago.

This happened to me postpartum and I was super wigged out because I’d been told nursing would make me very hungry!

Okay, I was also totally delighted by this, especially the 8/10. And she made her own sign!! Like, the bouncy castle thing is maybe slightly out of touch, but also a not terrible idea since we need everyone, including ppl with kids, to show up. And singing is great!

Same. And I was raised in Berkeley by a very progressive mom, so I was pretty progressive at baseline.

Lol got a very unenthusiastic email today from HR that the new billionaire mayor of San Francisco wants all the department of public health employees who currently work hybrid schedules to come back to the office (no reason given.) I hope the unions fight the shit out of him.

For what it’s worth, this episode also makes me cry every time and the first time I watched it the world was at least a smidge kinder.

As always, my only quibble is with the day count. It simply cannot be correct. Surely it is months, or years. 34 days is laughable and I do not accept it.

Yes AND right after the “fire threat sentence” it talks about how too few of our nations’s children are eligible for the FUCKING MILITARY. THE CHILDREN ARE NOT HEALTHY ENOUGH FOR US TO SEND TO THEIR DEATH.

I cannot find a single statement in support of transgender people since he won the senator’s race
Elon was able to do a coup because no one wanted to work on the weekend.
I want him embodying Mitch McConnell, not doing business as usual

*This* My senator wanted this job so bad he was willing to end Katie Porter’s career over it but isn’t doing *anything* with the power he so desperately craved.

No. Masks are not the only gear that healthcare workers use, but it is the only one that they throw a fit about. Also, healthcare workers are not the only people who have pandemic trauma and are not the only people who need to wear masks. You think the OP doesn’t have pandemic trauma?

Look, you don’t have to be, like, William Wallace, or whatever. You can just be that dude at the end of Gattaca. You don’t have to lead an army. You can be the person who presses a button that says “fuck you” to an unjust system and makes life better/more just for one person.

I have no notes, except it simply cannot be day 17 and I reject it/time.

Look at all these Dem senators who willingly give up leverage to thwart an ongoing coup.
