because eurosky doesn't help with that at all, you still depend on the US Bluesky and they get access to the data.

Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (@aoc.bsky.social) has been a consistent supporter of Ukraine from a legislative and rhetorical perspective. Supporting every standalone aid package, saying peace can't be made without Ukrainians, and frames Russia's invasion through an imperial lens.

Ahti is the god of the sea in Finnish mythology and also a given name that doesn't see much use these days so they're both probably a reference to the mythology on some level.

To reply to the ninja-reply that you added right before blocking, I've also watched and listened to Piker. I wouldn't know that he himself repeatedly gives the worthless "context" excuse if I hadn't done that.

I'm not the one repeating it without even being able to back the argument up when asked.

I mean you would have to provide an actual context to make this argument work at all. Repeating that he's "taken out of context" doesn't really do it.

Maybe you should reexamine your own beliefs if you can't even offer a single example where that actually is the case.

Ah, Piker's famous "context" defense. I have yet to see a single case where actually looking at the context has made what he said look any better. Maybe you can go into detail on what exactly this context is if you have anything for a single one on this list and aren't just repeating his line?

The Problem With Hasan Piker’s Einstein Story People scrutinizing influencers for their views should also hold them to account for their facts.

Democrats have been wrangling over whether to engage with influencers such as Hasan Piker. The better question is how to talk to them in a way that's actually constructive, @yair-rosenberg.bsky.social argues:

bringing up "all governments lie most of the time" seems like making excuses for Trump and minimizing his daily lying about anything and everything. All governments certainly don't lie in this way.

He said it was NEVER going to close again and here we are one day later...

Mehdi Hasan: Trump just publicly referred to the Strait of Hormuz as the “Strait of Iran.” Not only does this look like total capitulation from his administration but I am trying to imagine the GOP/Fox response if Joe Biden had said this.

the reason Blacksky was affected is that they were still relying on Bluesky's relay even though they're the only one that has their own AppView replacement.

For example, the European Commission gets much more engageement on Mastodon than here. Probably points to the crowd over there being more EU-centric which isn't a suprise considering it's a platform that was created there.

Depends very much on the audience. Neither of these platforms is large enough to have a decent-sized community and all languages represented in big numbers.

It would absolutely be a biggie. Almost none of those people would know to do it and even if they did the tiny single alternate service would not be able to handle the users...

I don't think that follows from Biden being unable to win at all. If the fact that he wasn't able to make public appearances at a level that convinced the voters would have been confronted earlier instead of being hidden the Democrats could have had a normal primary cycle and a normal campaign.

Obviously Trump always was far worse but it really doesn't matter if he couldn't win Trump and I don't think it's debatable that he couldn't have at this point.

6 days ago 0 0 1 0

Probably some of those too but I was mostly thinking of Biden only dropping out way too late when he was basically forced to.

yeah, there might even be another recent high profile example in the US to point to...

Trump and Putin have a lot in common with him so it's a natural alliance.

You hear something like this said occasionally but it is based on a misconception. Most Israelis are in fact not of European background and Europe was not the only place where Jews were the subject of expulsion/persecution etc.

always delicious to be able to refute someones worthless arguments so thoroughly that they're reduced to just calling you names.

Yeah, it's me who's reaching not you who ignored the directly describing the US system as a representative democracy and then desperately quoted a bit where you have to completely ignore the word "pure" to make it say what you would like it to. Sure dude.

1 week ago 0 0 1 0

are you able to understand what the word "pure" means there?

1 week ago 0 0 1 0

This is hilarious. You're literally linking to an article that says the USA is considered representative democracy to argue it isn't a democracy.
