In a Pew poll of 25 nations, 53% of Americans found their neighbors "morally bad," while in Canada 7% felt the same. A Canadian friend asked, "Why do you think this is? Is it the political polarization?"

The Iran War is a wildcard, especially if you notice the number of Republicans in Texas that @robertdownen.bsky.social noted were running on a specifically anti-Muslim platform even before Trump bombed Iran. It may help ultra-MAGA in the primaries, but it will hurt in the general. That's my gut.

*majority minority. However it should be phrased, White folks are a minority in Texas. The obstacle to overcome is voter registration and turnout. But as a lifelong Texas who left in 2012, I've been waiting for the state to turn Blue for two decades based on demographics. Maybe now's the time.

A thread worth watching. What happens if MAGA candidates sweep the GOP primaries in TX, then face a Blue wave among Latino and Black voters in Nov.? I'm old enough to remember every Republican getting swept out of office in Dallas County in '08. People forget that Texas is a minority majority state.

The best of the best ... of the bottom of the barrel. So many experienced prosecutors have quit, DOJ has been reduced to begging for lawyers to apply for jobs with the agency. As @joycewhitevance.bsky.social noted, when she was with DOJ, there were 500 qualified applicants for every posted opening.

I was surprised by the recent polls that showed Crockett up by double digits. I thought Talarico's interview with Stephen Colbert might make a dent, but her lead has only increased since then. Impressive.

Latinos are energized by ICE. Blacks are energized by Crockett. Turnout is key in the general.

Saw the craziest golf sequence in my life yesterday. David Ford takes a 7 on a par 3. Couple of holes later he eagles a par 4 from the fairway. Next hole he jars his pitch on a par 5 for eagle. The next hole he puts it in a bunker, doesn't get out and dunks it for par!!
