I have been sitting on this character artwork by @selinafenech.bsky.social for so long!! The Royal Dragons of Alaska was my first series as Elva Birch and I love this alternate Alaska so much. Cool fact: I came up with the book covers before I had even a whiff of a plot.

I had the incredible good luck to see the Kilauea eruption a few days before Christmas. Woke up randomly at 1 am to find that the fog had lifted and we had a clear view of fountains up to 1400 feet right out our hotel window. An AMAZING experience.

2025 certainly was a lot of year in a year. I only published four books, but I wrote 5. I did more art than I have in a while, and ran two Kickstarters and did 13 in-person shows. I feel pretty good about my successes, learned from my failures, and am glad for my health and family.

Most of my mushroom photos are in the woods, where mushrooms can grow on rotting logs and drink swamp water.

This mushroom is made of grit and f*ck you, living his best life in a busy intersection, sucking nutrients out of gravel and cigarette butts.
