Not a good move for his southern strategy?

What’s your next step for “the left”/liberals/Democrats/non-Right as a group? (assuming you think the left is at least somewhat different from the right )

MAGA in their own words:

“…people who are MAGA and who are really competent” is “a very small group of people.”

@moneyontheleft.bsky.social Do you have a brief-ish write up explaining why ~no other states and localities have equivalents to the bank of North Dakota (or even better versions)? I can’t imagine it’s universal lack of ambition. Impediments? Thanks.

It’s curious how dismantling “deep state” power is accompanied by vastly increased unaccountable deep state power, with that power concentrated into very few hands.

I have a local neighborhood outfit that will replace the battery in my iPhone for about $69 – generally after three or four years of usage…

Is the Trump reign beneficial because it will cause Democrats to change in a fundamental/revolutionary way? Or get replaced by a different party? Based on history the latter is bloody unlikely IMO. Has only happened once with the collapse of the Whigs over slavery.

What I can’t answer: how in the hell do we deal with the structural/game-theory fail of our constitution, whereby there are always only two parties that have prospect of winning the election? So failing to vote for the better party hands the election to the worse or worst.

A Seattle resident since 1987, this has been obvious to me since the early/mid 90s. And I was probably late to the party.

And probably fried to a perfect crisp, to boot.

This assumes they have moral principles that they are too cowardly to stand up for.

… or gotten better, for that matter…

I’ve often wondered if Trump starred in one of those films, in Russia. Only thing I can imagine that would give Putin so much leverage…

I’m embarrassed to admit that this works for me because I have an inordinate fondness for re-reading my own writing.

I just start writing chunks of copy about stuff I know I want to write about. When one feels like it’s dead-ending or not working I start another one. They start munging together and forming a cohesive whole. I keep editing, revising, moving stuff around. There is no such thing as a “draft.”

Republical Party. Let’s try that.

I haven't seen anybody pointing out that March CPI inflation @ .87%, annualized x 12, is 10.4% inflation. Yes quite likely a blip but !!

This post is written top to bottom by CGTP? (After prior conversation(s) with you?) Thanks.

#4: Palantir claims to care about free and democratic societies, while its tools are being used to dismantle that very thing in their own country — long a beacon for the world — before their very eyes.

Agree on your objections but not on “never get us anywhere.” OTOH refusing to vote for Democrats against Republicans will definitely not get us anywhere.

Sure. Still good to try to sound less fussy in public facing communications. if I was a Democratic politician I’d avoid the whole subject because it just delivers salience to it which the right will use against us. Like putting a kick me sign on your back.

Very good point. Still, “people involved with the justice system” might be better…

Temporarily *because* so many didn’t vote for the only candidate who could prevent a republican win.

What I appreciate is having a super knowledgeable interlocutor who I can argue with, and that argues back at me. Just one example for me: unpacking excruciatingly buried methodological details and assumptions in different national accounting presentations.
