I was meaning in the tone of much of the music mags at the time. Not more widely.

I (half) remember Neil saying something like he found the whole lairy lads on tour thing pretty repugnant and that he owed it to wife not to be a dick- which was very much out of keeping with the times.

A good guy when it wasn’t always fashionable or considered good copy to be so.

I agree, but, I’ve found that they’re often quite cheaply made. Especially paperbacks don’t last as long. Curling covers etc.

The Smiths (and Morrissey in particular) instinctively understood TOTP as a specific medium in its own right.
