I write a lot of one shots about relationships that I find interesting to explore and are usually not the healthiest, so I get nervous to share outside my friends. But I’ve had bad reactions from just mentioning that I write fanfic at all without even sharing what I write.

I felt like it was a safe space and they immediately acted like I should be embarrassed for telling them/wanting to share my ao3 with them. But I’ve had good experiences too like when I told a friend I wrote fic for a ship she liked and she had already read it & liked it

I once mentioned that I write fanfic to a coworker when we were chatting about fandom stuff and they acted weird that I would admit to writing fanfic even though we were having a conversation about fandoms/fanfic/shipping/etc.

bought the same piece of terrifier merch as my friend because we both loved that it had Sienna on it.

Somebody at work said they didn’t want to watch a movie because an actor. They usually find attractive looks like a nerd in it. I feel like I’m the opposite. There’s some actors I thought seemed ordinary and boring until I saw them playing a weird or nerdy character.
