MAJOR: Twin Cities Tenants joins five labor unions, together repping 25,900 members, to launch a rent strike drive, vowing to withhold rent March 1 if @governorwalz.mn.gov fails to deliver an eviction moratorium and rent relief. If launched, this would be the largest US rent strike in 100+ years.

Dr. Doug Eyolfson -
By charging $100 for COVD vaccinations, the Province of Alberta is undermining efforts to prevent a disease that killed more Canadians than the number of Canadian soldiers killed in World War 1.
This is unconscionable and dangerous. #cdnpoli

#Manitoba & #Winnipeg don't want MAGA-loving, anti-2SLGBTQIA+, Christofascist concerts in our public spaces either, am I right?

I think you know what to do. Email our elected officials.

I just remembered that I helped someone in a shark costume while on the desk today, and the way I know I am fully inured to the vagaries of library work is that it didn't cross my mind again until just now

Screenshot: Community Connections logs more information questions than any other Millennium Library service desk handling 45% of customer inquiries at Millennium Library. If funding is terminated at the end of this year, current patrons will still need the services and information they have come to rely on at Community Connections. Taking away Community Connection’s 4.2 FTE positions will mean vulnerable customers will seek assistance at the other service desks where there is limited capacity to provide specialized services that often require interactions that are extended in time and expertise.

during a canada post strike is when you really see the consequences of having virtually no labour journalists at major publications in canada, but a load of business journalists ready to parrot the corporate line

Striking Canada post workers stand near large box labeled “letters for Santa”

If you’re worried that the Canada Post strike will make it hard to send your wish list to Santa, don’t fret! CUPW workers have a box at their picket and they’ll make sure your letter makes it to the North Pole. But don’t try it if you’re a Canada Post executive, you’re on the naughty list!

Besides being idiotic and hate speech - this podcast by the National Post, saying 'Natives=Hamas' is one more piece of evidence showing that support for Israel's crimes in Gaza leads to hatred of Indigenous people here at home (and vice versa).

Two set of land maps showing gradual land dispossession over time of Indigenous peoples via settler colonialism in Palestine and what has become the United States. The map key shows land “inhabited and stewarded by native peoples” and “land controlled by settlers”. Both countries show four maps each. The Jewish Voices for Peace logo in on the bottom right corner as identifying the source of the graphic.

Opinion: Scurvy is back – and telling people to eat more oranges isn’t the answer While a vitamin C deficiency is the surface-level diagnosis for this affliction of yore, the root causes go far deeper

“People don’t have scurvy in the 21st century because they need to eat more oranges, but because they need decent paying jobs, affordable housing, reasonably priced food and better income redistribution.”

Well put, @picardonhealth.bsky.social

Swiss reject plans for bigger motorways and extra rights for landlords Swiss voters had their say on Sunday on a set of ballots which went right down to the wire.

In Swiss elections today, voters rejected a referendum that would have dedicated $5.6 billion to expanding highways & building new roads.

Green & left parties, which argued instead for spending the funds on transit & active mobility, successfully campaigned against the measure.
