I also wanna reread TGCF because seeing this botched relationship dynamic made me miss hualian

but God it's so funny because you think this guy is larger than life at first and in the end he's just a new rich who did shrooms

where the ending is kinda funny, the author probably felt as if just letting them end up being together wouldn't be good enough so she tries more then once to end their storyline
but also Tilo just handed her whole life out bc of him so it would be just as anticlimactic for them to end up separated

I loved the main character Tilo and how she navigated her desires and duties, how she really was a master of the herbs but above all a master of herself

but Raven starts out as a nice character and there's a point where the more you learn about him, the more he becomes simply Boring

Mistress of Spices (Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni) is a really interesting read, grabs your attention and makes you pay attention to where the story is going to take you
but geez the main character's love interest starts out as an enthralling mystery and ends up being Just A Dude, what a waste
