I’ve seen a lot of slightly wrong ideas about Texas Tech on here. What people need to understand is that this is an R1 public university, not a random rural technical college. This is an experiment to see how far policies can be pushed, and then replicated nationally at similar institutions.
TTU just released a memo institutionalizing censorship. As a grad student researching gender minority mental health and suicide prevention at TTU, I see this as an attack on academic integrity & professional readiness. Sharing some/a lot of thoughts as I make sense of this mess🧵(opinions my own)

New arrival from @brepols.bsky.social! Our fourth volume in the New Approaches in Archaeology Series is out. This one is a great series of chapters on hoards.
I look forward to reading about these projects every year. A relief and a pleasure to see this program continue. Congrats to the new winners!
TX SB 37 is *really bad.” It’s important to read the whole thing to understand the scope of the efforts to completely hand over all power to politically appointed governing boards, including over most department hiring.
40 BOOKS IN ROMAN HISTORY WRITTEN BY WOMEN
A killer reading list of great books (and personal favorites!) in Roman History to celebrate #InternationalWomen'sDay 2025.
Limited to English (to keep it manageable!) and listed in order of publication.
Let's go!
Delightful present in the mail! This book on one of the most influential sculptures in Spanish history was originally published in French and Brepols has done a fantastic job of reproducing it for anglophone audiences. www.brepols.net/products/IS-...

🏺It’s time again for the Joukowsky Institute postdoc job cycle at Brown. A really wonderful two-year position for early career archaeologists.🏺
Sure thing! What’s the class?!
Annalisa Marzano has a good summary of the evidence in the fish salting chapter of her Harvesting the Sea OUP book that’s more comprehensive.
