So the culprit is the background. View Transitions stop working properly when you have a backdrop filter on iOS 26.3.

I disabled view transitions for Safari users. ✨Apple✨ visitors get the worse experience!!

And it only happens with view transitions. The artwork transition below is not using view transitions and it’s animating correctly:

Whenever there is a view transition playing, everything is extremely laggy. I’m currently using two: a fade-in animation on page change, and my name smoothly going from the homepage to the navbar and back.

In the vid, u can see that when they finish playing, the chat icon resumes animating smoothly
