I’m glad a new generation of people get to enjoy my favorite characters. Once Nintendo decides to cherish their history and gives us commercial access to the titles they constantly take down from Rom sites. Then I’ll be happy to be a customer again. But until they open the vault. Good bye Nintendo.
Nintendo wants you to play their current lineup of titles and completely forget the rest of their history of games even exists. Why would I spend 449 when I just bought an amazing, compact Ryzen PC for 189? Why would I pay 70-80$ per game when steam always has games for 10 or less? #IndieGaming
They’re normalizing higher prices with the consoles and their first party titles. They’re making it impossible to play your favorite games, with digital downloads and barcodes that can simply be turned off with a switch in the future. #IndieGames
I thought I’d give it a cycle. See if Nintendo could win me back on the next console after they abandoned me on the WiiU.
I’m happy to say I will not be adding the distraction of the Switch 2 to my life. They can keep their $449 console and their barcode games.
This is interesting. Around the time Sony and Microsoft’s consoles took over, another Blue Hedgehog’s console bit the dust. Did this contribute to scare away Sony & Microsoft from taking on mascot platformers? Seemed like they electively gave Nintendo all the fun mascot games, to market “cool/edgy”

Oh I agree, adding limitations to your pixel art helps immensely. Limited color palettes can also increase your speed and efficiency.
Work in progress of a UI design for a fictional game called "Vampire Blood Bar." The UI is monochromatic with shades of red & black. There are two cute little chibi vampires in a window, there are multiple buttons to press that indicate Blood Type like A-positive, etc. There are blood bags in a queue at the bottom of the screen and players must match the blood bags with the buttons. There is a level meter that tracks your progression in the game, as well as a heart meter. You can only lose 3 customers and the game is over.
