If you are an administrator - I recommend giving this a try.
There is so much more that I am gaining from these experiences and I greatly value and appreciate my co-workers that are trusting enough to welcome me into their process and their classrooms.
I’m reminded of the work and pressure that comes with this and the disappointment when students don’t reciprocate with the same effort and excitement that you bring as the teacher.
I love teaching. It’s so amazing to create possibilities and to see students engage and learn. I even enjoy the frustration that comes when you haven’t yet hooked a kid and reaching for ways that can happen.
I forgot how much I love planning. There is a real excitement that comes from the thinking of how to best create the experience for your students. The possibilities that exist as it comes together make it special - especially when co-planning with another educator.
This year I have offered up and have been invited by about 12 different teachers to “co-teach” with them. This involves planning, teaching or shadowing, and in some instances grading with them. It has been a great experience so far. Some key takeaways…
