I have found Sesame Street on Instagram and am reminded why I count to 12 the way I do, why I sing when I see the letter C, and why I arrange my grocery list w a loaf of bread, a container of milk, and a stick of butter. Man, that show has stuck with me. It was SO good! #GroverForever #CisforCookie

This particular director was just plain abusive - verbally and physically. I am an old soccer player and study military history. Sometimes tough is necessary. But abuse? Never.
Now someone should investigate band directors. I know that seems crazy, but band is a serious thing in TX. I witnessed some pretty serious abuse that was only checked, but not stopped, by parents attending every practice. That director is gone but should have been fired long, long before he left.

Reminder that the world would be a better place if it was run by more history majors.
Reposting for the weekend crowd.
He emphasizes 15-19year olds. These are high school kids. He is saying it is a problem that the birthrate among minors has dropped. This is a success, not a problem. A 15 year old is not an adult and should worry about grades and fun, not their baby. When did this become a problem? Crazy!
The Flint Hills of Kansas are gorgeous. I think it is a beautiful state!
In 2021 we launched The Border Chronicle because we believed that the U.S.-Mexico border needed a region-wide publication from the perspective of the people who live here.

Happy 50th anniversary to “All the President’s Men” — a film that owes its existence to Redford, who bought the film rights, developed the script and cajoled a reluctant Woodward & Bernstein.
I thought it was “a great character study,” he said later. But, for months, “they didn’t return my calls.”

Listening to #Artemis today and it strikes me the astronauts would agree that the next time we need to include a poet on the flight.
I study aviation and space in the 20th century- not the science, the people side of it all. This demonstrates that we really have made some progress, whatever some people say. It is so inspiring!
Anyone who wants to watch the Moon mission rather than Trump's ramblings can follow it on the NASA livestream on Youtube
The latest episodes are sufficient to clarify that when Hegseth rages about "woke" thought and DEI, this is the equivalent of using the n-word. He uses it to ground the dismissal of men and women who earned their positions on peer-reviewed merit. Because of their skin color.

Cover of book The Women With Silver Wings: The Inspiring True Story of the Women Airforce Service Pilots of World War II. " Light grey cover with blue letters and picture of 4 Women pilots walking away from rows of planes and toward camera.
Loving seeing all of these and going to humbly add my own. I following these women pilots from the 1920s, thru WWII, then the final 1/3 of the book is postwar including their fight to be recognized as veterans in the 1970s. Really try to weave 20th century realities thru their story.
The better book on the Mercury 13 is Margaret Weitekamp's "Right Stuff, Wrong Sex."
Big news for the wills world:

I will say as an author nothing makes me happier than seeing a marked up, dog eared copy of my book. It means someone really read it and engaged w it. Such a compliment to the writer, really.
I learned today that there’s a copy of the script of the episode of The Simpsons where Nelson knocks over the Sunsphere in Knoxville Tennessee in the (still standing) Sunsphere in Knoxville Tennessee.
