Simon, the constant text messages from the party-you know, the ones that essentially scam the elderly (cnn.com/interactive/202...—have a really poor track record of delivering resources to candidates, but a tremendous track record of enriching consultants. A recent analysis shows that, of $100 gathered by these text message campaigns, only $1.60 gets to candidates (thenation.com/article/p...). If this is a bad look for institutional Dem fundraising, l'd like to politely suggest that the party commit to no longer doing it. To be sure, I'm in perfect harmony with you on this point: Trump, Miller, ICE, and Putin are the enemies of our party. But do you understand that, with Dem leaders not even deigning to visit Minnesota, we might reasonably infer that the party is less invested in fighting ICE (you know, defending our immigrant neighbors) than Minneapolis activists? Time and again we see Dem institutional leaders fail to use every ounce of their power through every available means to meaningfully obstruct the MAGA regime. (Yeah, including objecting to unanimous consent!). You know, democracy is... actually on the line. More people are going to die. We really just want a party that can pretend to understand these things.

Seriously fuck off. Don't lecture me. Do your homework. Understand what we do here. You and your community acted shamefully today. This is not the right place for you. These posts are insulting. The treatment I got today from people in Minnesota was disgusting. You have no idea who I am, what we do here. Some dude sent some email to a list and the pile on happened. It's ridiculous. What we say and do here every day is that we respect one another. We lift each other up not tear each other down. We stay focused on the mission - beating Trump - and not fighting with one another. We are all playing different positions on the same team. Here we demand respect, dignity - something that your community did not give me today. Literally hundreds and hundred of lying, slanderous posts. I have never been been spoken to or attacked by others in our own family in my entire career as I was today - all for just helping. It was shameful behavior. You are an arrogant asshole coming in here for 5 bucks and lecturing me under a pseudonym, too cowardly to use your own name and image, without having any idea what we do and say here every day. So fuck off and good luck.

I went on Substack to suggest to Simon Rosenberg that there might be some valid reasons for Minneapolis activists to be suspicious of Dem party fundraising. Ooof.
