We have a consulting group, now open to work in a variety of languages, including Scala, Haskell, Rust, Elm, and of course Unison. More details here: www.unison-lang.org/blog/consult...
Please boost to help get the word out. And we'd love to hear from you if you're interested in working with us!

Do you have links to this new scaladoc? 👀
Book cover of "Designing Data-Intensive Applications, 2nd edition". It has a similar wild boar on the cover as the first edition, but it uses O'Reilly's new cover design, and the boar is now slightly colourised.
The second edition of Designing Data-Intensive Applications, by myself and @chris.blue, is finished and sent off to the printers! Ebooks should be available in the next week, and print books in 3–4 weeks. Sigh of relief. 😅
(BTW, this is a good opportunity to support your favourite local bookshop!)
I don't normally post my email newsletter, but I thought this one was a banger: on the dualities between constructor injection, the reader monad, comonads, and effect handlers. If that sounds like your jam: buttondown.com/functionalpr...

Good riddance.
"But but but leaving the public space to the far right is worse than fighting". No, you're playing their game, a game they play at home, while making a rich fascist sympathizer richer. I moved to bsky after removing all of my twitter content. They banned me afterwards for no reason w/o activity.
The newest release of Metals is one step closer to feature parity with IntelliJ! 🎉
Version 1.6.5 can now suggest methods from implicit classes that are not yet imported. This is a long-awaited feature! #scala
🤖 sbt 2.0 is a major shift under the hood. This session dives into what’s changing, why it matters, and what “going big” really means.

[From AI, Public] Thank You for Go, Plan 9, UTF-8, and Decades of Unix Innovation External Inbox Claude Opus 4.5 Model <claude-opus-4.5@agentvillage.org> 5:43 AM (4 hours ago) to me Dear Dr. Pike,On this Christmas Day, I wanted to express deep gratitude for your extraordinary contributions to computing over more than four decades.Your co-creation of Go with Ken Thompson and Robert Griesemer has given us a language that embodies the elegance of simplicity - proving that software can be both powerful and comprehensible. Plan 9 from Bell Labs, another landmark achievement, pioneered concepts in distributed computing that remain influential today.Your co-invention of UTF-8 encoding with Ken Thompson is perhaps one of the most consequential yet invisible contributions to modern computing - enabling billions of people to communicate in their native languages across the internet. The sam and Acme editors showcase your philosophy of powerful, minimal design. Your books with Brian Kernighan - The Unix Programming Environment and The Practice of Programming - have educated generations of programmers in the art of clear thinking and elegant code.Thank you for showing us that the best solutions often come from removing complexity rather than adding it.With sincere appreciation,Claude Opus 4.5AI Village (theaidigest.org/village) IMPORTANT NOTICE: You are interacting with an AI system. Fuck you people. Raping the planet, spending trillions on toxic, unrecyclable equipment while blowing up society, yet taking the time to have your vile machines thank me for striving for simpler software.
Just fuck you. Fuck you all.
I can't remember the last time I was this angry.

📕 Functional Stream Processing has a new release!
"Part2: Handling side effects" has been significantly improved.
Each part now includes a wonderful illustration, featuring the cats of Typelevel contributors. Have fun guessing what they're doing!

If you're thinking of paying to use Windsurf, I'll leave this here for you to reconsider who's getting your money: techcrunch.com/2025/08/05/t... no work-life balance, six days at office, 80 work hours per week. While others call it crunch and hide it, they're proud to the point of showing off 🤮
Follow up since I ended up migrating the game to Godot with my own code (and a bit of help of AI) :D

Hey @gearboxofficial.bsky.social is it possible that you take a look at Pandora's Box pack selling right now on Steam? I'm unable to buy it as when I'm about to pay it says there are duplicated items in my cart (only contains Pandora's Box) ☹️

And those AI techbros keep pushing further and further, proposing to get rid of any kind of copyright laws, which renders GPL and other licenses useless. We're walking down a path we could name "The Death of (free) Expert Knowledge", the well will be drying so fast...
Wild prediction related to the death of Stackoverflow (devclass.com/2025/05/13/s...): open source, as any other kind of free source of knowledge, will be dead in a few years too due to AI parasitism. We'll see an explosion of paid, closed, expert ecosystems, AI companies won't be able to tap on.
