Out of curiosity, what’s your fav Pokémon? Mine’s Gengar, I always end up coming back to that design lmao

Okayy soo I’d set up a forked tongue with clean topology independent motion for each split and shape keys for subtle flicks or curls. If it’s for VRChat, I’ll keep it optimized and avatar ready.

Do you want it mostly cosmetic or fully animated and do you have a base model I should integrate with?

Is the avatar already weight painted to a humanoid rig or is it using a custom skeleton?

For the face, switching from a rigged setup to a 2D texture based approach can work well depending on the style you’re aiming for. I’ve handled similar conversions before so it shouldn’t be a problem

Got it! do you have a preferred printing method (FDM vs resin)?

Do you already have references for each character like species, body type, personality or would the artist be helping design everything from scratch?

Will the models need to be prepared specifically for 3D printing (split parts, tolerances, supports)?

For curly hair instead of drawing every strand think of it as bigger clumps or shapes first almost like ribbons or chunks and then add a few defining curls on top. It keeps it from getting messy and saves you from overworking it

Wht usually helps is simplifying it first into basic shapes (like a curved line for the opening + a block for the teeth) before adding details. Also try not to fully outline every tooth, it can start looking stiff really fast

Is it the same one we were discussing earlier with the two characters or something different? kinda excited :D

Haha it’s definitely you! I used to doodle a lot and thought I was really nailing it lmao. Now I just look at them and laugh :)

Yikesssss

It usually feels more natural if the masks slip in small inconsistent moments rather than full moments of honesty all at once

Do you have any size or layout requirements in mind?

Both are filtering themselves, just in different directions. That gives you room for tension without needing constant external conflict since the misunderstanding is baked into how they present themselves

That setup actually works well because the contrast isn’t just personality surface level, it’s protective habits that clash in a believable way

A lot of polished artists still have that foundation, they just control proportions, shading and structure better. The realism you want is less about changing your whole style and more about tightening those basics underneath it

If you want a more practical shift in mindset, try treating drawings like drafts the same way you treat writing drafts. Not a final product you judge while it’s still forming just a pass where the goal is completion then improvement happens in the next one, not inside the same one

The issue is when that turns into constantly interrupting yourself. That’s where progress gets blocked because your brain keeps restarting the piece instead of building it forward :)

I think part of what’s happening is you’re holding your drawing to the same instant flow standard your writing has and that’s why it feels frustrating

You’ve got a solid base already, it’s just a matter of time and polish

And yeah that realistic proportions but painted feel style is kind of tricky at first, but once you start learning it, it gets pretty simple just time consuming

The layouts are actually pretty good! I’m kind of shocked you drew this yourself especially compared to my previous clients lmao

Im not a weirdo

Okay, got it! Wht I can do is make all the drafts with diff moods and poses first so you can see which direction you want to go in. Then we can continue with whichever draft you like most

I'm kinda excited for this because I really like these kind of things ( the opposite attracts kinda thing )

Why do you need an anime artist for a tattoo sleeve? Is it so they can design it for you?
