Huh, I should try that with our main game server at work and see what it’s like performance-wise

(Albeit first I need to find a better way to objectively benchmark the server…)

what’s good about cycling around town:
• faster than walking
• i get to wait at traffic lights and pretend i’m a car

what’s bad:
• potholes
• i saw a dog laying on their back and wiggling furiously like a gremlin and i couldn’t take a picture because i was too busy cycling

I think I heard about Wangs fairly early on but also I don’t think I’ve watched any shows where they were featured as a plot point

i have come up with an absolutely incredible shitpost. it is so powerful that i believe it could cause psychic damage to the good people of this website, so in order to protect society, i will not be posting it. you’ll just have to take my word for it. it’s really good bro

I did think about this but the space distribution is really unbalanced in most of them

There's one where the terrace alone is bigger than both bedrooms combined

There's one that has an upstairs that would make for a fantastic bedroom, except it's not closed off so there's zero sound isolation

Yeah, I'm already struggling to store clothes and gear as-is

If I could get rid of this terrible bed then I could downsize to a single (with storage underneath) and it'd help a bit, but... ehhh.

There's some nearby flats that look fantastic and have tons of shared space but the bedrooms are tiny

unfortunately yes

I measured the rooms in our flat because I wanted to objectively compare it against other flats that we might buy

It turns out that even though my bedroom feels extremely cramped, half of the flats for sale in my area actually have *smaller* bedrooms D:

two signs explaining Wendy’s food. the top one shows the order of ingredients used on their topped fries & jacket potatoes, and which utensil to use for each one. the bottom one is a “Saucy Nuggs Quality Card” that has photo examples of servings that are “Too dry” (bad), “Fully coated with sauce” (good) and “Too much sauce” (bad)

various signs at Popeyes. the top one explains the steps for “how to coat a shatter crunch chicken fillet” (using honey BBQ sauce from a bag) along with some tips. the bottom two are for the “honey BBQ sandwich” and the superstack version thereof. all three signs have clickable links to PDFs and training videos

KFC’s instructions for the “Pickle Pepsi Max” (pour a cup of pepsi max while leaving enough space for the customer to add pickle juice, grab a cup of pickle juice from the storage drawer, and serve them both in a cup holder) and the “Pickle Burger Box Meal” (listing the components that go into the meal: box, burger, chicken piece, side, fries, drink, bag)

another of the shop’s windows shows off various strange souvenirs. there’s Scotland-branded balls, a William Wallace sculpture, a gaudy gold statue, multiple UK-themed money boxes, and a framed picture of a highland cow that might be slop. you can also see the shelves at the back of the shop, which have vapes and bongs

the shop unit previously occupied by our local chemist (who moved a couple blocks down) has finally been filled!

… it’s now another generic shop selling vapes and Scotland-themed tat. I’m sure the newsagent/vape shop directly opposite them are pleased to see some competition

The moral panic about them has gotten so bad in the UK that people will, with a straight face, tell me that I shouldn’t be able to wear the dog face in my avatar because “it’s a pup hood”

Apparently anything dog-shaped is now a pup hood!

Many years ago when I worked on Furcadia and tried to optimise the hell out of its software rendering code for sprite blending effects (e.g. multiply, add/subtract, etc) I saw a nice boost from using SSE2 intrinsics, so I can believe it

It wasn’t a 2x boost or anything but it did run faster
