What a lovely first few days back in Primary 1! Today we read Rainbow Fish and spoke about what it means to be a good friend. We had so much fun getting the glitter out to make our own rainbow fish! 🐠🌈

How beautiful is our art work?! Today we were exploring different patterns and colour palettes! After searching for images of sunsets and sunrises, made a list of colours that we thought went complimented each other and used this inspiration to help us with the colours we chose for our own pictures!

Yesterday in Numeracy we were exploring division by sharing. We spoke about how each group had to have equal amounts and used the idea of sharing sweets between our friends to help us picture the concept! We had some star workers who were super keen to share their understanding on the board! 👏🏼🤩

We enjoyed working on our body language and facial expressions to show our audience different emotions and feelings! 🎭😱 #OutdoorClassroomDay

Today we were learning all about Guy Fawkes night! We learned all about why we celebrate and what we can do safe when out seeing fireworks and using sparklers! We even made some beautiful firework chalk art this afternoon! 🎆

So far this term we have been loving our new class novel ‘The Wild Robot’! Today we made predictions as to what we think Roz might find on the island and what island life might be like for her! 📝📚🤖

This afternoon we created some spooky Tim Burton inspired self portraits! Aren’t they fabulous?! 😍👏🏼

This week we’ve been learning about 2D and 3D shapes as well as tessellation! Today we went on a shape and tessellation hunt around the school and playground to see what we could spot! 👀

These fabulous girls have been working on their creative writing over the last week. Today during Fun 31 time, we created front covers on Canva for their books! They were super excited to continue on with their story writing with their own books📚📖✏️

P4 love sharing their work and ideas with each other! Today during Taught Writing we had so many eager learners keen to share their stories out loud. We have been practising giving constructive, kind feedback so our volunteers received some lovely, helpful words about their work! ✏️💬👏🏼

This morning we were exploring bossy verbs! We decided to create our own ‘marvellous medicine’, like George, so we used bossy verbs and listed ingredients to instruct our reader on how to make the medicine! 🧪✨😷

Today we analysed the results of our germy bread experiment! After carefully examining the bread, we came to the conclusion that bread touched by unwashed hands has more germs and mould than bread touched by clean hands! We were so shocked that some of the bread still had no mould 10 days later! 🍞🦠

This morning we were working on developing our reading fluency by practising with a piece about germs! 📚🦠

Yesterday we worked to develop our visualisation skills by drawing parts of George’s Marvellous Medicine! We focused on two key parts of the book and drew what we pictured in our minds from what we had read! 📚

Yesterday we had fun role playing as Doctors and patients! We applied our knowledge of different diseases and worked together to diagnose our patients as they shared their symptoms! We were then able to recall steps to take to help our patients get better! 🤒😷🤧

We had great fun finishing our Taught Writing plans in the Library this afternoon! 📝

We have been learning all about germs and common diseases/viruses that can be caused by the spread of germs! Today we learned all about the different symptoms, treatments and preventions of chicken pox, influenza, tonsillitis, measles and norovirus🦠

This afternoon we explored UNCRC Articles 7 and 8, highlighting our rights to a name and identity. We identified the different things that make us who we are, and had fun investigating the origins and meanings behind our names! 📚

This week we have been exploring subtraction strategies! Today we enjoyed partitioning numbers to help us when taking away and had lots of fun using our desks to show our workings! ✏️🤩

This week we have come across some unfamiliar words whilst reading George’s Marvellous Medicine, so we decided to further develop our dictionary skills to discover what those words mean! We also explored using a thesaurus today to help us up-level and widen some of our vocabulary! 🤩👏🏼

We had a lovely afternoon in the Library today! We carried on reading George’s Marvellous Medicine and even had some fantastic, brave volunteers come up and read a page each! 🤩👏🏼📚

Today we started our week long investigation into germs, where we will be monitoring the difference in fungus growth on a piece of bread touched by washed hands versus unwashed hands! This will help to show us the importance of handwashing to get rid of germs! 🔍🦠🍞

We had lots of fun during our Fun 31 time today! A and B enjoyed playing families in our Library corner, I, A and E created an animal village out of blocks, and A built a house for her teddies!

This morning we were developing our vocabulary skills by learning to use a dictionary. We have been reading George’s Marvellous Medicine in class and used the dictionary to help us find the meaning of some unfamiliar words from the story! 📚📖

This afternoon we were learning all about germs! We learned all about different types of germs, how they can be passed on and what we can to do stop them from spreading! We had great fun with our science experiment, watching the ‘germs’ scatter away from clean hands! 🦠👩🏻‍🔬
