Also making a concerted effort to shrink the library down to the stuff I love or plan to get to immediately. For example, I don’t own a single Grant Morrison comic anymore. Who is this guy?

Anyway, likely to delete the app again after this but wanted to say hello. Life remains rad.

Just an update:

I’ve lost 35 lbs and am at my high school weight. Not quite Diamond Dogs-era Bowie, but not far off.

Been in multiple writing workshops. Really feel like the tools are sharper than ever.

Reading a lot of Denis Johnson. Tree of Smoke 👍

Still predicting the Blue Wave is 2006-sized

The term “Lynchian” is embarrassingly overused, but more than halfway through this, the surrealism often reminds me of the experience of watching Inland Empire - the narrative collapsing on itself just when you think it’s going to take hold. Written in 1980.

It’s about what I expected. Watchable airport junk. I mostly was more entertained by the audience; the husbands who suddenly perked up whenever Sydney whipped her tits out and the teenage girls who filmed every sex scene and excitedly tiktoked in the parking lot to the end credits song.

Woodbine’s character is named Steve Grant. I don’t know why that stuck out to me so.

This was never gonna work because you can make a comics movie with anyone, but Blade is a Wesley Snipes movie.

I’m prob basing it on how badly that one in Brookhaven has been doing. Feels like the overhead would be crippling.

Honestly, I think those theater-restaurants are going to be the first ones that go out of business.

Between Jackie Brown and OUATIH, there’s a glimpse of the filmmaker I wish we got more of.

Also falling into that Holmesian category: the Facebook dudes firmly believe she was trying to hit him.

In the “no shit Sherlock” side of things, I imagine she didn’t even see that guy standing in front of her car…probably looking at the dumbfuck at her window as she tried to pull away. Obviously we have a duty of care when we drive, but who couldn’t understand her panic?

The People’s Joker is going to be on The People’s Streaming Service (Tubi) on 1/21.

I haven’t seen it yet!

It's an MTV simulator with almost 30,000 videos, organized by decade, with special sections for Headbanger's Ball and Yo! MTV Raps. This is so good.

Because Michael Moorcock was right (I love The Lord of the Rings to the point where I’d get sworn in on it maybe, but Tolkien was the kind of conservative catholic that got pissed that the sermons weren’t in Latin anymore)

Sebastian Stan is a fine actor and I’m sure he’ll be great in the part if that’s what he’s playing. But still…

And Twin Peaks

And Mad Men (though I had to warm to it a little)

And The Leftovers

And yes, The Sopranos, great fucking ending for anyone that actually paid attention

I’m sure. He didn’t have a POTUS run in his future, he just wasn’t that guy. But it’s too bad he and Klobuchar couldn’t just swap roles any longer. That was his next, best role going forward.
