I knew levels of understanding of the good USAID did were low but the idea that a senior politician thought its health work was 'mostly abortions' has still blown my mind

Hello Bluesky, this may be a bit of a longshot but does anyone on here know a penguin expert who might be up for answering a couple of questions about penguins for me?

My one and only addition to the Harry Potter discourse is to share that in Russia the sound ‘h’ doesn’t really exist so he is called Gary Potter

My local Indian on the other hand just texts once a month or so on a Friday evening saying 'Fancy a curry?' which is 1000% more effective

Reminds me of my teenage mates’ band being booked to play the ‘Drug and Alcohol Awareness’ stage at our local town festival - they were certainly aware, and only too happy to spread awareness

And before any of the “didn’t happen” crew come for me, I’ve just realised it’s a quote from one of his Octonauts picture books

My three year old just came and told me “something peculiar has transpired, in my room” and I’m not sure whether to be more impressed by his vocabulary or worried about what sort of scene I am about to witness

There just isn’t that much for kids to *do* at the science museum! A lot of it feels more aimed at adults who are interested in engineering. I know there is a special bit for kids to play in at the science museum but I’ve never managed to book it in time. Whereas dinosaur fossils are always exciting

A map showing road closures around Brighton for the upcoming marathon

Looking at the map of road closures for Brighton Marathon that I’ve just had through the letterbox and I’m sorry but that is just such a very long way to run. Why would anyone want to do that

I registered a Ltd Co last week and have already received 3 pieces of personalised junk mail from banks and accounting software. Given that no other institution knows yet, can only assume HMRC or Companies House have sold my data. How is this legal/ GDPR compliant?

Also probably cost her some commission income as instead of closing sales she was having to deal with her computer / his incompetence

It would be an absolute tragedy if this was lost. It’s often not safe for kids to paddle in the sea itself as waves can be big and there’s quite a drop off.

I take pics and report them on my local council website, they don’t always get there in time but have had a few very gratifying emails saying that people have been ticketed and moved on.

Thoroughly enjoyed this @economist.com obit of Philippe Gaulier. My life is enhanced by knowing there existed a perennially angry, anarchist clowning teacher who charged £2300 a term and “growled” at students saying “this is so, so shit!”
