Art has a very specific utility: mental transportation.
So it’s right up there with recreational drugs, and can be also addictive.

What I like the most about this piece is the complex behaviour that emerges from a very simple set of rules.
Only 1 rectangle is actually drawn at any given time. The rest is a recursive set of reflections that create a looping trail of 'ghosts'.
How long can you keep track of the original rect?

This is an evolving artwork: v3 -> v4

there's also an accidental "easter egg" if you click or tap the canvas. I forgot to remove that debug "feature" on this version 😅
v4 fixes that, and it also introduced a wooden frame around the canvas. I felt the need for an aesthetic change to justify the v4 label (otherwise it would have been v3.1) 😂
v3 introduced the code base that randomly selects a collector every day, based on the hash of the first Tezos block minted after 0:00 UTC that day. But it only did so when loading the page, so it wouldn't automatically do it again at 0:00 if the page remained loaded several days.
This makes v4 suitable for exhibitions.
v2 was already exhibited in Vietnam at ArtTech Fusion 2024, but that was a static PNG.
Just minted v4 of "This is an evolving artwork". Now, every day at 0:00 UTC it automatically switches the name of the collector, without requiring a manual reload of the page.
