If things are unlikely to go back to where they were and the current direction is disastrous then it is more important than ever to know where we want to go. Radical imagination time. And definitely time to hone your art, your craft, your imagination, and your humanity.

Okay. We keep spinning through space and I’m off to water the garden.
Starmer should immediately & unequivocally ban access to British airspace to US warplanes. The UK should not be accomplice to a US President who is threatening more war crimes. Period.

Its #worldhealthday! @nature.org and @who.int teamed up on a new brief that shows how #NatureBasedSolutions can reduce disease risk, support mental health, and strengthen health systems while restoring biodiversity.

Oh what a glorious Sunday to rediscover @dandelionradio.bsky.social! I am INDEED enjoying David Smith on #nowplaying with Tony Tuff - Gallop For Me
Everything we need to do to stop climate breakdown, we also need to do for national security. Energy saving, more renewables, more electricity storage and interconnectors, electrification of transport, heating, cooking and industrial processes, plant-based diets. We win on all fronts.
How much more evidence do we need? The ultra-rich and the governments supporting them will destroy everything for the sake of profit, power and pride. Nothing is precious to them - not human life, not the living world - except their own wealth and status. Our survival depends on resisting them.
Peace is a climate solution. Energy efficiency, renewables & walkability are peace building in that they weaken one excuse for war.
Whole lot of responding to crisis from the same worldview that created it today. Though your power to interrupt that pattern may be small, even insignificant it is still bigger than zero. Can you tend even a tiny sliver of this broken world within and without?
I just registered for Scotland's Culture Hustings on 26 Feb! 🏴

As the old paradigm splinters into rage-filled, grief-stricken fragments, how can we lay the foundation for the total systemic change we so badly need?

Something I see a lot of folks missing in discussions about what's happening Venezuela, particularly around oil, is the role U.S. oil majors' interest in Guyana—and the threat Venezuela posed to it—has in all of it. Explainer here: drilled.media/news/guyana-...
Actually it would be unusual for things to not be dark, chaotic, and terrifying as the machinations of a system based on a worldview that doesn't fit how the actual world works comes to its logical conclusion and as that systems experiences an age of consequences.
I haven’t quite got my head around it yet, but this is the second time I’ve heard the argument that the US attacked Venezuela to ensure fossil energy is bought in dollars globally, and it seems very compelling.
“Lying low and hoping that this too shall pass is cowardice, denial and historical illiteracy” - spot on from @nesrinemalik.bsky.social
We will either end fossil fuel dependency and the predatory extractivist basis of global production, or they will end us through wars and ecological collapse - all at the same time.
Okay so long term thinking; the UK (and other European countries) need to lobby for at least Duty of Vigilance laws now, right?
To add to the madness of it all, the attack on Venezuela is clearly, above all, an oil grab. But we scarcely need oil any more.
Dad’s books are full of empathy, common sense, and a healthy suspicion of the powerful. But at its heart his work is also about how systems keep people poor while pretending it’s their own fault. So I hope Kemi’s taking notes as well as reading the jokes.
Monbiot explaining the shift of the Overton Window. What is becoming normalised is incredibly disturbing.
Labi Siffre has issued Tommy Ten Names with a cease and desist order against the use of his song 'Something inside so strong'. Good man! I hope he sues him.

It’s been a while since I’ve woken up from an anxiety dream, and then promptly forgotten what happened in the dream for it to be immediately replaced with odd jobs I need to do soon.
Thanks brain. Could you have just sent a list? Unnecessary nervous system freak out for a reminder to put a wash on.
Article & the press release are full of misleading information on a paper which is worrying anyway.
We need research into & implementation of BIO-remediation, not "artificial" "devices" that emulate plants. Stop re-inventing the wheel & learn from nature WITH nature.
P.S that pic is a pea shoot.
Bluesky surely likes its logo-sake pictures? Speckled wood butterfly 💚
This is infuriating. What is the point of a Marine Protected Area if trawlers are allowed to keep ploughing it?
Yet again, the government has succumbed to commercial lobbying.

I'll be speaking at the @defendourjuries.bsky.social press conference today, ahead of the pro-Palestine protests this weekend. Already, seven of its spokespeople have been pre-emptively arrested, in a gross infringement of their right to free speech and free assembly. This is what police states do.
Saw a post I won’t reference saying art is something only folks born into money have time for.
I am a data point of one but say that’s not true.
Advice I give to early career artists: live as cheaply as possible, in a place with other creatives around. Be stingy so you can be free to fail.
