All these comments make me want to mention Jubilee Episcopal in Austin, TX. They’re deeply rooted in the BCP liturgically, but they work hard to make it an extremely young family friendly space.

Remember when I bought a copy of Enriching Our Worship 1 and I asked you if we would ever need a copy of Enriching Our Music? And you said “no one uses those”? Guess what! You’re using them! 😉🤣
And they were roommates! 😁😉😘
In my recent job search, one interview was done by a clinic owner (who shared half way through the interview that the position was already filled), one was done by a program director who couldn’t answer my audiology specific questions, and the one I accepted was done by an actual audiologist 🤣
What I wouldn’t give for fun and fancy and unique copies of TEC liturgical resources!!
Ok, the semi-closeted gay Christian man is ranting online now. I’d appreciate your prayers for peace over my parents’s fears about my eternal destiny and my fears about my relationship with my parents. Thanks y’all! 💜 8/8
Because the liturgy is an opportunity to join in something that is ancient in Christian history and yet still rooted in the Protestant Reformation! Because today we sang Come Thou Fount, a hymn I knew from my Conservative Baptist upbringing! 7/
Because the priest actually calls out injustice and inequality and racism and ableism and homophobia in our society! Because the priest gives Eucharist, the body of Christ, to the church and the deacon gives us, the body of Christ, to the world! 6/
YES! OF COURSE MY RELATIONSHIP WITH JESUS IS GROWING IN THE EPISCOPAL CHURCH! Because it’s a community of people who don’t think I’m going to hell for something I asked God to change a million times as a kid and he never did! Because I can show up with my partner and they’re so glad we’re there! 5/
I’m gonna try to cling to the big positive from this conversation: “Well, as long as you’re growing in your relationship with Jesus.” 4/
Of course, he had to end this part of the conversation with “just be careful because a lot of episcopal churches can be quite liberal on their moral values” and “if they start saying things that aren’t truth, you better find a different church”… aka they allow the gays to exist *gasp* 3/
His big concerns: Are they like the Catholics? Do they actually believe in the free gift of God’s grace? Do they believe in transubstantiation? And somehow, despite being a baby Episcopalian, I was able to give a fairly good explanation and defense of Anglican beliefs and tradition 2/
My not fundie but still very evangelical dad called to see how my day was going, what I had for dinner, and “I see you’ve been going to an episcopal church! What’s that about???” (My family all tracks each other on Find My iPhone, so honestly I should’ve known this would happen someday) 1/
Mega Dragonite is objectively so cute!
I mean… it could be because we were at a coffee shop in the gayborhood? 🤣
A large Snorlax plushie will save you *nods sagely*
Meanwhile I’m just gonna be spilling the tea with Sinistcha 🤣
Yikes… that’s just plain annoying
Same gurl 🥲
Blasphemy! 🤣
I’d say it’s still worthwhile to read. If nothing else, it gives you the backstory of how we got here. It, and Searching for Sunday by RHE, are the two major books of my de/reconstruction journey that I still go back to from time to time.
I’d appreciate prayer for work shenanigans. God knows what’s up! Thank you!
Oh no! So sorry to hear that
The deacon at my parish is married to the deacon at another parish in the city. They’re known for attending marches and protests together in their clerical collars, holding such signs as “No kings but Christ” and “Feed the hungry”. They get stuff done!
What I learned today… Rule number 1: When a Pokémon is knocked out, don’t forget to promote before doing anything else. Rule number 2: When in doubt, teal dance 🤣
