It’s a sad sign of where we are that the government can’t have a straight conversation with the public about what we need to do, and the opposition gets lauded by the press for proposing unfounded tax cuts.

This does look like rubbish. Contradicted by general polling where personalities are not associated with it. A lot of people seem to hate KS for no particular reason.

Rightly lots of debates about growth this weekend - rightly because it was low productivity growth that saw wages entirely flatline during the 2010s.

Doesn’t that just mean that they will switch to being limited companies if the benefits of LLP disappear?

It feels to me that the BBC and the press love the fantasy announcements and soap opera but get bored setting out the reality

Given how Kemi’s idea of scrapping stamp duty without saying how it would be paid for was declared a triumph across the board, it’s not unhelpful to point out what the basics of government finance are.

Well maybe it’s something to do with everyone saying Reform are setting the agenda, because most journalists just repeat what is said in set pieces. No one else is going to put the governments position forward

On the 60% rate issue, I think just assuming no impact on earnings isn’t enough. Anecdotal evidence is that a lot of people with go part time or put more in their pensions to avoid this rate. Could it be that it’s a brake on productivity?

To everyone in Britain's Jewish Community: you are not alone.

We will not let hate or those who spread it win.

To everyone in Britain's Jewish Community: you are not alone. We will not let hate or those who spread it win. We stand with you.

On Yom Kippur many Jewish people in Britain have their phones off to mark the holy day.

As it ends at 723pm, some will hear the tragic Manchester news for the first time.

At that time, please join many of us to send a message of solidarity to British Jews. Thanks Together coalition for proposing.

I don’t agree with knee jerk anti- londonism. But I work in infrastructure project appraisal and every single decision maker is London based. The entire process is less scientific than it tries to appear. It’s only human for there to be some unconscious bias.

Terrible journalism- the staff should be ashamed of such poor analysis

On this one I am not sure if I agree. The case for compensation seems weak - and it just adds to the compensation and ambulance chasing culture. And we all pay for it one way or another.

Couldn’t agree more. Creates a kind of ‘not for the likes of us’ aura. Not just a choice. Felt like that when I did UCCA in 1984 - it felt like it was a waste of time to apply.

If you visit the museum of the srebrenica massacre in Sarajevo, it’s almost impossible to leave without breaking down. It feels like a shame for everyone in the West. But some people want to blame others

Also i heard @robfordmancs.bsky.social discuss it on R4 and wondered if he thought this constituency was a place where Reform ought to beat its national poll level? Are there many places in Scotland where they will do better?

Same. It’s like a joke. The BBC’s political coverage is like a soap opera.
