I’m so old I remember my neighborhood in northeast philly’s exchange name - Pilgrim 54326. Interesting that pay phones always had very high numbers that took long to rotary dial (879-7878) was my school’s lobby phone) because people rarely called TO a pay phone.
Had a veggie burger there once because I just had to just to quell the questions of folks back home “did you go to the Amelie cafe?” Was a pretty good burger actually for a tourist spot.
The other thing is these young folks know nothing of analog photography! I remember showing a film that had a scene in a photography darkroom (maybe The Conversation) and the first question a student asked was why was there a red lighted room? They had no idea what a darkroom was!
I always thought it was a Amelie thing with that very popular one in Montmartre. All the influensters lined up recording themselves recording themselves. Too meta for me! 😹

I’d rather be in the place where I see pictures of Blini Mimo Calvin and Chonk! But Bluesky improved 100% when you could follow all posts by selected people. Before the feed would rarely give me your (and franglaise) posts now I get them all which is much better.
My mental health improved after my account was hacked. And x’s response (“not our problem”) shows only one account on that site matters: EM. It once was a pretty cool place. Utter enshittification. I only stayed for the 100 or so Philly friends who didn’t come here but I was long over that cesspool.
