30 minutes of playing strictly using only the oil brushes in Procreate. It was actually really fun.
I've been playing almost exclusively Thief in Marathon. :)

Trying to apply some of the things I've been studying about the Arcane style lately to something original.
Still kinda fell back into old habits but I'm quite happy with it.

No human ever laid eyes on this product.
It's a pop-up "Night Before Christmas". Pretty sure they just photocopied one from Hallmark. It has the Hallmark watermark and everything.
And also doesn't use AAA batteries.
I play Marathon solo.
Sometimes I will spam Friendly and just carry on if people don't shoot at me, I got loot to find and contracts to fulfill.
Sometimes I'll drop from a nearby rooftop as Rook just to knife and finish a guy on exfil while his team panics trying to down me.
pfft ai could've generated him 1000 logos in those two days. all mediocre and samey but who cares, amirite?
My wife has been stepping into the world of speculative fiction with deeper philosophical themes.
'The Giver' is on my recommendation list. She's already torn through both 'The Alchemist' and 'The Little Prince'.
Using this post as the basis, one thing I often tell people when writing is to make the music match the scene.
Is it a tense scene with lots of action? Short choppy sentences. Make it snappy. Quick. Things are happening.
Is it an emotional scene? Draw it in, be more introspective, show the feels!

My advice is to not close the door entirely but look out for yourself first. You might get a hankering down the road. Indulge yourself. But always be mindful of the FOMO trap.
That being said, I need to recognize that myself right now and probably take the lesson here lmao
<
I fully support the idea of moving away from it because it becomes a compulsion. I've done that myself. But I enjoy RP and come back to it.

It makes it really hard to take a step back and intentionally miss out on that stuff.
I feel it, 100%, even now. I'm sitting here refreshing BSky when I should be doing work, or could be drawing or any number of more productive procrastinations.

<
After that I mostly RPed on Discord which was a lot better, but I kept it personal. I didn't join but RP servers because I would fall victim to that FOMO as well.
I want to be a better writer, a serious writer, but the bandwagons and crack interaction and whatnot are where community is made.

Honestly you're 100% valid in all of your feelings. It's something I deal with /frequently/.
Back when I RPed on Tumblr I was in the habit of constantly sitting on the dashboard and refreshing the page because of that FOMO. I never wanted to miss out on the fun stuff.

Doing an Arcane style study.
Morning streeeeeetch!

Tried out inks with my alcohol markers. They were pretty fun to work with. I need to get more into watercolour or gouache, it was fun to use a brush.

Probably the first time I really drew a pose without having a direct reference. Obviously I looked off of other teardrop backbend images as reference, but couldn't find any that weren't directly from the side.

Posting this here to consolidate. Drew Malevola from Dispatch for someone in the roleplay community.
First time I've done any digital art in a couple months. Tried to stick to cell shading both because of the Dispatch style and to try it out.

Since we can't send images in DMs, I'm gonna just drop this publicly and tag @nocturnalophelia.bsky.social who asked me to give their OC a shot.
Hilariously the pose reference I used was almost the same as their OC's reference which was unintentional so I didn't mean to just do a redraw.
Note: the left hand on the second one is funky, not because of an accidental AI reference but because I still struggle with hands
Went on Pinterest, picked the first couple pieces of art that caught my eye and did a redraw of them. Here's the original source for the Lydia image:

The second I didn't realize until afterward is AI so I'm not even going to source the reference. :)
An OC I RP with a friend (on Discord). Still not happy with my styling yet, but that's a sketch issue, not a colouring issue. Feel like I'm getting more in the groove with finishing sketches.
Did some digital touch ups on this one.

have i mentioned i still enjoy drawing cass?
Decided to try and sketch the big lad from my last sketch.
Then I just kept going and going. And it's not in my main sketchbook, just one of my side books for practice stuff. Dangit!
A little ambitious for my current ability but that's how we learn, right? Page 2 of my new sketchbook, trying to be more deliberate about my drawings in this one.
Starting a new sketchbook in 2026 with the intent of filling every page with full pieces. Got another sketchbook for doodles, study and practice. Anyway, first page done!
A lot of Art YouTube that I watch stresses not to worry about what brush other artists use.
And I get that, collecting them is kinda just bloat.
But I purchased a brush pack from a YouTuber recently and it's basically exactly what I want. Sometimes the brush does matter imho
