It would appear you do, based on the back-and-forth I’m having with someone who thinks we should be thankful for Carney and his “acting responsibly” government.

Carney IS the conservative leader. Who needs Poilievre when the Liberals are enacting his policies?
But this summer when I have to run multiple air purifiers 24/7 to clear my home of wildfire smoke, I’ll stop and shed a tear because Brad in Fort MacMurray got to keep his job on the tar sands.
You know the pushback must be coming from inside the house because Benzie didn’t write a quippy one-line lede, and dares to mention the Shaggin’ Wagon fiasco.
Maybe if Carney were starting with a blank page, he’d be worthy of that hall pass. But he took over leadership of a country and set himself the immediate task of undoing the meagre mitigation efforts in progress. He is absolutely inflaming the crisis. Carney fans can kiss my Royal Canadian.
And in Ontario, we can’t even do that. Moar gas-powered electricity plants!
Carney thinks action on climate change is a nice-to-have that we can’t afford, while Canada will be stronger if we can just find more places to send our oil and gas, so I don’t think our government is responsible at all.
If Mark Carney and his ministers are sane, and they do appear to be, then the only way to interpret his policies is to read them as the product of someone with a streak of cruelty as wide as the Saskatchewan sky.
Late-night grocery core could be a subcategory into itself.
Nah. It’s no “I Wanna Kiss You All Over” by Exile.
They can’t even tank right.
It appears the site is currently occupied by a 4-storey apartment building.
Nah. Pearson's closer to his mom's house.
“Air Ford One”? More like the Gravy Plane.
Just five grocery companies account for over 75% of all food sales in Canada.
This is not "free or fair competition." What we do have is consumer gouging — and now the prospect of predatory, surveillance-based pricing — in no small part because of a clear lack of competition.
My key suggestion, as a copyeditor (and this may be a hobgoblin unique to me): In a sentence, they work best singly or in a pair. Once a third dash shows up in a sentence, things can get confusing.
Exactly the instance I was thinking of. My selfish take on which is we were THAT close to not having to see those infernal Protect Ontario ads on the Jays games.
Fortunately for them, the majority in Congress also completely reject the idea that their body has any role at all to play in governing.
Where was that laissez-faire attitude when he was bloviating about the price of disinfectant wipes during the pandemic?
The next premier should announce Ontario is printing its own currency, and then issue just one type of bank note: a $3 bill with Captain Canada’s picture on it.
Problem is, journalists like that are getting fired because Dear Leader threatens to pull advertising from their outlets.
Sadly, there is precedent. Witness the way the “I stand with Trudeau” crowd used to talk about the former leader of the national NDP.
weareyohomo Hello beautiful people, we have some news.... take several seats. There will be no Yohomo events this year. THAT MEANS NO LOVE ON TOP 2026. Wooosh, exhale, we said it. The FIFA World Cup is taking over our beloved Bentway as its fan zone for June and most of July, and that left us without a space that we felt would be suitable. We prefer to let the magic that is YohomoFest breathe, rather than force it into a spot that doesn't feel right. Pausing all of our June events is not an easy or light decision to make, but for this year; it feels right in our hearts. We hope you understand and that you'll stick with us, and well see you out there celebrating all Pride Month. All our lovin, Yohomo
YOHOMO announces their very popular Pride parties aren’t happening this year because FIFA is taking over their usual Bentway space. Another reason to dislike that corrupt org!
They're right.
Bill 98 is a direct attack on the rights of local transit riders, transit workers and the TTC Board itself.
We fought for and won 3 years of a fare freeze. But for what? For Ford to overturn local decisions and raise fares? Not on our watch.

Andrew Coyne @acoyne.bsky.social + other conservative pundits join Pierre Poilievre in calling #Canada's Alto High-Speed Rail project a $90-billion "boondoggle."
There's no business case for it, they say.
What's the business case for Doug Ford's proposed $93B car tunnel under Highway 401?

Also, spending three nights in a weird budget hotel overlooking the Décarie expressway only reinforced how lucky we were not to go through with the Spadina.
I spent last weekend shuttling between Côte-des-Neiges/NDG and Verdun, and was a bit surprised when every driver, upon finding out I was from Toronto, told me they wished Montreal maintained the streets as well as we do. I'd always thought Toronto set the bar so low!
How much did the city charge them?
Chow says the chief of police advised charging admission to keep crowds under control. Bullshit. When Taste of the Danforth was running, a million people descended on my neighbourhood over a weekend. The most noteworthy incident was when Rob Ford showed up pissed to the gills.
Councillors Mike Cole and Shelley Carroll basically are saying if you don’t have ten bucks, you don’t count. Stay the hell at home. Vote them all out this fall.
The public in Toronto are already paying $200 million to host six soccer games. The city signed a contract committing to stage a fan fest free of charge. Then said they’d charge $10, citing an array of weak-ass “reasons.” Now Chow is surprised at the backlash and proposing a half measure.
