I have done this a few times... In our profession we got so much rejection and even R&Rs may focus on the negatives. Telling someone you like their paper is refreshing for the person and you too!

Hey #econsky! I'm organizing a workshop at Brown this Spring in partnership with Eric Nielsen and Viviana Rodriguez.

The topic is educational measurement. Please submit a paper/extended abstract! We'd love to consider your work.

And please help us spread the word to folks who aren't on bluesky!

Community college enrollment has been declining since 2009/10. The optimal policy response to this depends on the root of this decline.

I'm thrilled @nber.org today released my working paper with Harvard PhD Joe Winkelmann titled:

"Labor Market Strength and Declining Community College Enrollment"

With rent control in the news, it’s a good moment to recall the research of @rebeccadiamond.bsky.social and co-authors.

They show that strict rent control in San Francisco reduced the availability of rental housing, eventually *raising* rental costs.

Do profs respond to student evaluations?

On average? Nope.

Those who have a more positive view of their own teaching do.

But all of these responses are driven by the female teachers.

"Male teachers appear to be unresponsive to student feedback."

Proud to have named this new seminar series designed to help education researchers navigate the new landscape we're in.

I hope the name conveys the optimism that there is a destination worth reaching on the other side of this.

Why are all the fun econ research discussions mostly on the other platform? Is it just me, or some settings on my Bluesky? Are people back there? If so, why??! 🥺😫
