"For about the umpteenth time in Oklahoma history, a white politician has vowed to silence Native American voices."

Always nice to have your life threatened and told you don't deserve to exist because the for-profit health industry is using you as a reason to profit more. And discussing eugenics openly should be a career-ender given that everyone knows people in RFK Jr's risk pool.

Man idk how to express how demoralizing it is to see people doing joke support for the Pope as the Catholic Church implements the most draconian trans healthcare ban anywhere in the US. It's a FULL ADULT TRANS HEALTHCARE BAN!!!THEY KEEP BUYING MORE HOSPITALS!!!!!!!

Moreover, ICE must be destroyed

New to the idea of adding Alt Text to images? This is the best thread I’ve seen explaining what and why. The basic idea is to write a brief description of any image you post. For people who can’t see the image well and need a text-based option.

also this is gonna be my 2026 vibe.

I think we're all emotionally cooked. We're all completely dysregulated. My circle on this site is heavily skewed toward unhinged posters, because I am one.

I'm not fighting other folks who also want everyone to have human rights. gotta keep my powder dry.

I would submit that a gerrymander by politicians saying fuck the voters and one by voters saying fuck the politicians are two wholly different animals

Given the fact that I devote a full 6 weeks every other year specifically to the idea of voting rights, I have sincerely grappled with the idea of retributive gerrymandering. Like, earnestly. I think there are reasons to feel weird about it, and it's fair!

But this IS a sincere difference.

Whether or not the two things are actually correlated, it is incredibly funny that Bluesky started experiencing near daily tech fuck ups right after the team started bragging about using vibe coding

Opinion | Measles Took My Daughter. This Is What I Want Everyone to Know.

Like me, you may think you understand the horror of measles and the murder being committed by RFK & co. Read this, if you can handle it--my eyes are tearing up for this splendid child lost--and learn just how much more terrible and heartbreaking it is. www.nytimes.com/2026/04/21/o...

Tank watch continues! Ammonia: dropping to 0 inside if 24 hours, even after 10 drops of the stuff.

Nitrites: stable?? Holding at 2.0ppm. Not going down but not going up either.

Nitrates: 5.0ppm, getting sucked up by plants and algae.

It has been 2 weeks since initial nitrite spike. Ahhhh!

Friendly reminder that this “wisdom” comes from a specific era and demographic wherein it was typical that the older you got, the more wealth you accrued.

I said it before, but Indian chillies will come over to borrow salt, get chatting, stay for dinner and then hold you up at gunpoint after dessert, mexican chillies will smash your door down, grab you by the collar and haul you outside for a solid beating

This motherfucker is gonna become my villain origin story, istg. Every time I hear yet another story of him destroying public health and refusing to take the blame, I become this seagull meme.

Disregarding, for a moment, that this law is obviously just intended to attack Queer folks in Ohio, especially trans folks (as a trans person in Ohio, it's pretty obvious)

I also still think it's wild we're afraid of kids seeing a boob but perfectly fine with kids witnessing violence, real and fake

WELL NOW, would you look at that?

A massive, 26-YEAR-LONG study of MORE THAN 2.4 MILLION people in Sweden found NO EVIDENCE to support a causal link between acetaminophen (the API in Tylenol) use during pregnancy and increased risk of autism, ADHD, OR intellectual disability in children.

This is excellent and it brings up something I am noticing, especially amongst Xennial men: AI overuse*. It's like they are half drunk and are mad I won't drink the magic Kool-aid. It's cooking their brains and they are clueless.

(*all AI use is bad, I am referring here to them using it nonstop)

Probably not. But that’s ok. The people who would notice my absence aren’t really on here often. They’d notice irl that I’ve gone silent.

I’d like for us to normalize not giving an ounce of sympathy or forgiveness to traitorous hatred driven adults. It’s time we start actually thinking about accountability and consequences.

Sucks how grief will just smack you out of the blue.

Fuck.

I’ve had Bad Suns “Salt” and Modest Mouse “The Ocean Breathes Salty” running through my head since I woke up.

Just letting myself feel it. I know it’ll pass but fuck.

Just…fuck.

Photo of my sketch of Sue the T. rex's skeleton in front of the Sue mount at The Field Museum in Chicago. I was sitting on the floor for a few hours working on this and it was so annoying because they have an informative light show that plays on the skeleton periodically and I wouldn't be able to make out details during this 5-6 minute sequence. Also my legs kept falling asleep! Someone was taking photos of me working on it, I wonder if those ever made it online. Anyways, its a really awesome museum

Beautiful graphic with the text "The Biggest Week presents Birder Prom sponsored by Birds and Blooms, featuring performing artist and birder Bonner Black!" The graphic shows two birds anthropomorphized into human body shapes, with a Cerulean Warbler in a blue dress and a Blackburnian Warbler in a suit.

Obsessed with the unintentionally(?) queer illustration for birder prom that has both species in male-type plumage. A female Cerulean Warbler would be more yellow-blue than that pure soft blue, and the beautiful orange is a male Blackburnian Warbler.

ALIENS HAULING HUMANS above the cover art for A Question of Navigation. There is a trope map pointing to the book, and the items say:
so many teeth, very pointy, try to avoid those if you can.
Do not go quietly into the abbattoir.
Betray humanity to live, or...?
It isn't mutiny if your were never crew, right?
Extreme teambuilding via cooperative violence.
Order now wherever you buy books!
Validation for becoming a theoretical physicist included.

First, A Question of Navigation, my sci-fi banger of aliens vs nerds and an escaped offensive tackle. Narrated by Luke Daniels, if you’re an audio fan. You can get it in print and ebook too!

Prediction Markets: Last Week Tonight with John Oliver (HBO) YouTube video by LastWeekTonight

Here’s last night’s story about prediction markets – platforms where you can bet on basically anything, from the weather to the war in Iran. The story's also about why AI seems to be obsessed with shirtless old guys! To a lesser degree, but worth mentioning, if you’re into that. youtu.be/ZN4njIQcSR4
