Usually, yes! Some of us however end up choosing a secondary name. I'm a fictive of Blake Belladonna and I use the name Blake, but I also use the name Nyx!

Usually, they pick their own names. In rare cases Sango or I will choose a temporary name for them until they choose their own. Someone new just recently split & didn't know their name, so I began calling them 'Wrath' until they got irritated at me for it and clarified that their name is Commander!

I actually only came out of a years long dormancy earlier last year..! This is a difficult question.
