Trump levying tariffs on countries just because their populations are not as commercially crazed as ours is. How dare they not BUY BUY BUY. This makes no sense.

Just figured out where these fake tariff rates come from. They didn't actually calculate tariff rates + non-tariff barriers, as they say they did. Instead, for every country, they just took our trade deficit with that country and divided it by the country's exports to us. So we have a $17.9 billion trade deficit with Indonesia. Its exports to us are $28 billion. $17.9/$28 = 64%, which Trump claims is the tariff rate Indonesia charges us. What extraordinary nonsense this is.

The (even crazier) part is that what’s keeping the news cycle going is the Signal chat and not the human beings killed as a result of these strikes.

If you wanted to cut waste, fraud, and abuse, you would empower the inspectors general.

My line has been: “The law is a song and dance we all elect to do in polite society. If we stop doing it, we are then in an autocracy.” It’s quite existential.
