The Red Sox’ Venezuelan players are ‘really freaking good.’ Their hopes for the team, and their home country, are high. - The Boston Globe Even before the US ousted then-President Nicolás Maduro, players from the South American country have straddled two very different situations. Their difficult path is rarely discussed.

As the U.S. and Venezuela face off in the World Baseball Classic, I recommend this deeply reported piece about the five Venezuelan players on the Red Sox, including Saturday's star, Wilyer Abreu. www.bostonglobe.com/2026/03/17/m...

The slavery exhibits at the President’s House are beginning to be restored by the National Park Service The restoration is the latest development in the city and community stakeholders’ fight to preserve the President’s House after President Donald Trump’s administration ordered the removal of exhibits.

Good! I'm happily surprised it's happening so soon. I thought this would drag through the courts for months.

Kids clothing is brutal when they’re in that tween stage.

The Kid turns 11 in January, he’s not a teen but he’s too old for, like, Bluey pajamas, and shopping seems like a trap at all times.

‘Health is more important’: Sister Jean, 106, Retires From Official Campus Duties | The Loyola Phoenix Schmidt turned 106 Aug. 21, and hasn't been seen by students on campus so far this semester due to her retirement.

One of my favorite sports stories in recent years, when Sister Jean's beloved men's basketball team made it to the Final Four in 2018.

How disappointing. Couldn't schools teach at least one book from the 21st century? I read all but one of these in the 1990s. One thing I have looked forward to as a parent is reading new school books with my son, not having "The Great Gatsby" forced on me AGAIN. (I read it twice. Despised it twice.)
