Free prescriptions, free tuition, publicly owned rail and publicly owned water are worth standing up for.

On May 7th, make it both votes SNP for a government that's on your side. #BBCDN #BothVotesSNP

As I recall, at the time the system was announced the explanation was that minority governments, which would be more likely to be delivered by it, would be forced to compromise and therfore be more democratic.
Im not sure i ever agreed with that notion

It's critical to understand that the voting system in Scotland is specifically designed to make it difficult for any party to gain a majority. Worth wondering why that is

This is who we are

We're the grandchildren and the great grandchildren of the thousands who came from Ireland to work in our shipyards and in our factories.

We are the 80,000 Polish people, the 8,000 Lithuanians, the 7,000 each from France, Spain, Germany, Italy and Latvia, who are among the many from countries beyond our shores that we are so privileged to have living here amongst us.

We are the more than half a million people born in England, Wales and Northern Ireland who have chosen to live here in Scotland.

We are the thousands of European students studying at our universities and our colleges, and we are the doctors and nurses from all across our continent and beyond, who care for us daily in our National Health Service.

Whether we have lived here for generations, or are new Scots from Europe, India, Pakistan, Africa and countries across the globe we are all of this and more.

We are so much stronger for the diversity that shapes us. We are one Scotland. We are simply home to all those who have chosen to live here.

That is who and what we are.

It would mean death for those of us with long term chronic medical conditions who would either be deemed uninsurable or hit with unaffordable premiums

I can acknowledge the good done by Labour while criticising for all the other terrible things they've done.

If i need to explain empathy to you then you're beyond help

Dont speak for me. Who is this "they" you mean? I'm happy to acknowledge when my facts are wrong, and as for Labour, that's the least of the reasons why I am unhappy with them.

I stand corrected. Happy to hear that this is now the case

Should I not be emotional about people being targeted for trying to escape their circumstances in their home nation, be it war, famine or persecution?

The OP was specifically about changes to the asylum system, not general immigration. For the record, I am a Scot, and we desperately need people to migrate here as we have an aging population and years of austerity mean people are having fewer kids.

Perhaps you should find out how the asylum system works before commenting. Unless you're Ukranian or from Hong Kong, it is impossible to apply for asylum in thr UK without actually being in the UK. Most asylum claims are eventually granted, but take years to process

Again, not a core service involved in daily operations of the NHS. All core services should be provided in-house

5 months ago 1 0 0 0

Strongly disagree. All of those services should be supplied in house. As soon as a private org provides those services, costs go up and quality goes down. I've seen it in action.

There's a difference between buying equipment and consumables, and actually having private companies provide services that the NHS used to manage in-house. I'm not suggesting the NHS get into manufacturing, but services should be provided by NHS staff only.

Here's a notion. Why give private companies contracts at all? Part of the reason the NHS struggles with funding is due to either PFI contracts or the stealth provisioning of essential services through private companies. Profit and health care are not compatible

Good Morning Scotland.
Any Scot looking around and not absolutely accepting the best way forward for our families, communities and country is regaining our independence is definitely not looking out for our children's best hopes and interests.

How many times do I have to say that I am delighted England has a party to vote for that's not part of the right wing hellscape taking over there.
Doesn't give him the right to ignore the SNP and claim something that's not true.

I could say the same to you, but that's hardly productive dialogue, is it?
The man made a statement which was factually incorrect. I corrected that.
From a Scottish perspective, we're used to English based politicians making inaccurate statements about our nation
