Our letter responding to Jowsey et al.’s open letter, calling for making space for critical and reflexive GenAI integration in qualitative research. Check it out: shorturl.at/nW0ka

Unfortunately yes. 😂 please let me know if you need a copy
Hi @trishgreenhalgh.bsky.social , here you are. Our paper has been published journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/....
Our title is a bit different but maybe great minds think alike 😊. Yes I will share soon
Our piece proposes NITA, a non-coding approach to thematic analysis with GenAI/LLMs. While NITA might not be appealing or applicable to all qualitative researchers, it could be beneficial for those working in applied research www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10....
Thanks for this Trish. I read and enjoyed your short piece. In some ways your claims resemble what we (Friese, me, Powell and Morgan) wrote in 'Beyond binary position...'. We will be able to share this once it is available.
Interested in recent debates sparked by the open letter and commentary by Jowsey et al. that rejects GenAI in reflexive qualitative research? I’ve documented almost everything you need to know to follow these debates here bit.ly/3WYiQuu
Pleased to share our latest publication on Higher Education. Using #thematicanalysis, we told stories of how #internationalstudents place-make during #COVID-19 pandemic. Check it out here rdcu.be/eMg6Z
How to understand behaviour's drivers in the context of wicked problems? We propose an integrated framework, SeCOM-B model to support this. Check it out, it is Open Access

Pleased to see my book on conquering PhD #scholarships published in Vietnam by Hong Duc publisher. This 240-page book offers a comprehensive guide to successfully apply for scholarships, ranging from searching for your sense of purpose, to developing a compelling research proposal and application.
In #qualitativeresearch, many try to quantify findings or imagine them as a single event—a moment of epiphany, a clear-cut boundary between question and answer. In reality, a conceptual leap is not a sudden moment. It’s an accumulative, iterative, flexible process. Check out this brilliant article
It’s nice to talk with My @sumernet.bsky.social about our gender equality, disability and social inclusion in climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction in the Southeast Asia. I shared some experience we had from our project with Hanoi Association of People with Disabilities in Vietnam.

ChatGPT in thematic analysis: Can AI become a research assistant in qualitative research?
Thrilled to share my new paper on a Guided AI #ThematicAnalysis (GAITA) approach to using #genAI in #qualitative research. I also propose ACTOR, a simple prompting framework to guide AI. Check it out link.springer.com/article/10.1...
Thanks Andrew. I will have a look.
Does it enable multiple languages translation? Thanks for sharing
It amazes me how my daughter (5 years old) can capture so many details in her drawing. This was done 4 hours after the trip.

Vulnerabilities of people with different types of disabilities in disasters: a rapid evidence review and qualitative research
onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/...
Pleased to share that our paper on vulnerabilities of people with different types of disabilities in #disasters has been published in Disasters. This paper, using a #rapidreview and #qualitative fieldwork, is the result of a collaborative work between Monash University and DP Hanoi in Vietnam.
Please check out my open access paper here vje.vn/index.php/jo.... The Special Issue also covers a range of different “qualitative journeys” by different scholars.
How have you navigated the ups and downs to become a #qualitative researcher?
For me, a Global South scholar, it’s meant seizing every opportunity to learn from mentors, connect with participants, read methodological literature, stay active in publishing, and write authentically.
Very happy to share that my paper on the use of ChatGPT in thematic analysis has been accepted for publication in Quality and Quantity. In this paper I propose a Guided AI Thematic Analysis (GAITA) that adapts Template Analysis for working with GenAI. #qualitative #dataanalysis #generativeAI
I love #visuals. They can demonstrate complicated relationships and abstract ideas in eye-catchy forms. I really had a great time drawing this illustration of different #thematicanalysis #qualitative approaches.
Thanks for sharing those details. It does not surprise me. In my experiment with theme development, GenAI could only generate descriptive rather interpretative themes.
Are you trying to develop themes with AI here?
Check out Gale et al. (2013) paper on Framework Method Analysis. Their paper proposes an adapted version of Framework Analysis that Ritchie and Spencer’s original approach.
Great thanks for sharing our work Christina. Appreciate it
Our paper follows recent attempts such as Morgan (2025), Friese (2025), Hayes (2025) in applying #conversational methods to develop themes, skipping coding. These attempts imply the potential of #GenAI in facilitating a #paradigm shift in approaching to #qualitative data analysis.
Pleased to share our working paper on generating #themes without #coding with #generativeAI. The paper presents an innovative six-stage approach to work with GenAI to directly construct themes and interpretation in #qualitative data analysis. Check out our paper here osf.io/preprints/os...
