Is this a wasted opportunity and a waste of money?

Cllr Brian Smyth is questioning Stormont’s spending on restricting Hill Steet vehicle access.

I stupidly never got round to fixing it to the base and a storm moved it eight inches, bent the frame and broke glass. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Spent a couple of days taking glass out, moving it back into place, fixing the frame, bolting it down, and reglazing it. That’s my punishment for leaving it unfinished!

[Sky News, which has spent years inciting hatred against migrants] Wow, how could this possibly happen?

Elon Musk, one of the world’s most powerful and richest men is posting far right ideology. Remigration is commonly seen as a far right concept of ethnic cleansing. To deport migrants and their descendants to their place of racial ancestry. That would include me. Why are we not talking about this?

Their Failures Could Cost Us Our Lough - It’s Always Someone Else’s Fault
Their Failures Could Cost Us Our Lough - It’s Always Someone Else’s Fault YouTube video by Green Party Northern Ireland

For 27 years, our environment has been mismanaged. In 2015, all 5 Exec parties backed the Going for Growth strategy, driven by industrial agriculture. In 2020, the SDLP minister - supported by her Executive colleagues - approved destructive sand dredging.

A crowd stands on a city street facing a large fire and thick smoke, with the Green Party logo above bold white text reading “SELECTIVE OUTRAGE IN BALLYMENA.” Overlaid in yellow, the text asks: “Why does violent, racist outrage erupt only when the accused are outsiders, while crimes by locals – often family or friends – are met with silence and inaction?” The image is branded as published and promoted by the Green Party NI.

When an alleged assault by non-locals hits the news, Ballymena explodes - protests, violence, chaos. But when local men face charges for domestic violence, rape, or child abuse, where’s the outrage? Where are the crowds demanding justice for victims?

No riots. No burning houses. No headlines.

A Green Party NI campaign graphic shows a row of terraced houses in Ballymena with two police vehicles and a fire burning in the street. Large white text at the top reads “CALL IT WHAT IT IS.” A red text box in the centre says, “The situation in Ballymena is where male violence against women and girls collides with racist violence – driven by people misled and inflamed by years of lies and scapegoating from Executive parties.” A black banner at the bottom says “STORMONT ISN’T WORKING.” The Green Party logo and publishing details appear at the bottom.

Call it what it is. Racist violence in Ballymena is the toxic legacy of 27 years of failure by DUP, Sinn Féin, SDLP, UUP, and Alliance.

Collection of small oak saplings in pots

Really interesting thanks. I’ve started to collect and grow oaks from acorn (as well as redistributing acorns around the countryside!) I was amazed to learn there are 600 different types of oak. At the moment only have pedunculate, sessile, red, white and holm oak.

This woman is a dangerous lunatic. The fact that journalists think she has anything relevant to say to the ‘fact based community’ (ie normal people) is nuts. And for people to actually elect this nut job is insane.

That post is one of eight leading up to International Women’s Day. Jaw-dropping stuff. These matters never get addressed or resolved as we keep voting for the same parties who repeatedly do nothing. The same parties have been in power for 27 years given our cosy system of government.
